"Jerry performed a site visit and provided an estimate for the work. He was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He set my expectations for what the work would entail and what it would accomplish given the condition of our driveway. Given their great BBB rating we went ahead with the work. The patching was great and really took care to get a great base ready for sealing. The work was done in a timely manner with great communication on different stages of work. Most impressive was: the original estimate matched the bill, to the penny, that we received at the completion of the job. Kauffman seal coating is one of the best business experiences I have ever had. I can not recommend them highly enough."

"Tim is a very honest humble hardworking man with a great work ethic and very high standards for his work and his small business. He did an amazing job filling cracks and broom seal coating of our extra long rural driveway. He did 10 times better job than the last big company did a few years back. I recommend his work in the strongest possible terms. This from a very picky retired Colonel."

"Platinum seal.coating is a small operation with narrow margin for error. They need business customers, and they know that â customer serviceâ is a life-and-death reality, not just a slogan. They responded right away to my call. They scheduled my project (a 250â driveway) right away and at a time convenient to me. They showed up as scheduled and on time, and their work product was done quickly and well. Their price was reasonable and fair"

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Though they may look similar, tar and bitumen come from different sources. Bitumen is a petroleum product—extracted during crude oil refining—and is mostly made up of hydrocarbons. Tar comes from burning down organic materials like coal or wood. Bitumen is strictly oil-based, while tar is a mix of compounds from natural sources. Both are used as binders in paving; however, bitumen is the standard for today’s asphalt. Tar use has mostly faded out of road construction.

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.

What causes driveways to crack can vary by driveway material. Sealcoating with the right formula creates a protective "shell" over a driveway. Resealing a driveway on schedule helps to preserve its lifespan substantially by keeping it protected against damage from UV rays, motor oil, chemicals, hail, rain, snow, and more. If you don't reseal your driveway, this will lead to brittleness, cracking, and potholes that can eventually cause your driveway to fall apart.

Most sealing projects take 1-2 days, including drying time before allowing traffic.
