"From a firm handshake at our first meeting, to a last, firm handshake after the job was done, I was impressed by Les and his crew. He (Les) gave me a price, gave me a time-frame, and lived up to both. A great team to do business with. The crew was excellent. They began the project at 10 am, and were done, cleaned-up, and gone before 3pm. The difference between our old, wood rotted patio cover and this new one are startling. We've probably added twice as much to the value of our home, as it cost us to replace the old one. Great work, good people, timely results. THANK YOU WESTERN SKY"

"This is very talented professional. I gave him a picture of what kind of railing I would like for my front steps. He produced a beautiful design installed them and they look beautiful. Thank you Vince I’m so glad I called you. I would recommend him highly. He is honest and considerate and very reasonable. I paid $1800 for this set of rails and well worth it for the quality that he produces."

"Kevin and his crew at Petkus Brothers recently installed two beautiful solid top patio covers in our backyard. We cannot be more pleased with the job. Our only regret is that we did not have it done sooner. Kevin came out to our home and we were immediately impressed with his knowledge, experience, honesty and confidence in his exclusive product. His extensive home building experience provided him the insight to have his patio covers built to specifications that are a cut above the rest. After his initial visit at our home, we met with Kevin at the impressive Petkus Brothers showroom in Rocklin. There, we were able to view and learn more about their product and visually see what ours would look like. We felt confident that we had done all the homework necessary to make a smart decision. After getting all our quotes from different companies, it did not take long to see that Petkus Brothers was going to provide us with the best outcome. They were the clear standouts. Our proof is right in our backyard. Our expectations have been exceeded, and we are very thrilled. We highly recommend Petkus Brothers for patio cover installations. We're sure that you will not be disappointed. We are proud to provide a five-star review for this great company. Boyd and Nancy Lester Fall 2020 Installation UPDATE: Fast forward to January 2022. Petkus Brothers just installed an addition to our largest patio cover. Our request was addressed promptly by Kevin and his crew. The addition was seamless and it has expanded our outdoor living space. We are so very pleased. Thank you Petkus Brothers for all that you have done for us. "They did a fantastic job and even came in at the best price. They came in on a Thursday and took out all the concrete with a bobcat into the trucks. They put in new beautiful pavers that look like cobblestone. We used to have drainage problems and they even did it in a way that everything drains underground into the street. They were clean, pleasant, and worked very hard. We are thrilled with the end result and have had a lot of compliments. We will continue to highly recommend them to anyone."

"My initial impression of John was very positive.  He is very friendly and outgoing and was usually punctual.  His quote was well below other bidders and was one of three that actually submitted a bid.  Of the 12 contractors we contacted only 6 showed up and of those only 3 gave us a bid.  The initial contract was only for the retaining walls.  We told John that if we liked his work we would give him the patio paver job.
The work started right away and went on for about 2 weeks at a steady pace.  There was a lot of dirt to remove and the hill side was steep which made it difficult to get the dirt down to the street.  On the third week nobody showed up.  It took a few voice mails to John before he called me back and said they are working another job that week.  That seemed odd to me to pack up at one job, go to another, and then come back a week later.  The walls were finished the next week and looked great.  John started complaining about the cost of the dirt removal and wanted to discuss dump runs and extra payment.  I told him we can discuss that after the patio pavers were done.  He gave me an estimate right away for the pavers and said he could start in a week.  It took many phone calls and emails to finally get a start date a month later.  That was frustrating.  It only took them 2 days to get the pavers done.
I mentioned over and over to John that there was a lot of clean up to be done.  He kept giving me dates and then putting it off longer and longer.  A few weeks go by with no sign of John coming to clean up all the debris and rock piles that his guys left all over the yard.  There were also left over retaining wall blocks and pieces of concrete that were cut from an existing wall.  I finally called John and told him to forget about coming back and payment for extra dump runs and I ended up spending about 3 days cleaning everything up myself.
The work they did is some of the best I have seen, but the broken promises were very frustrating.  I really wanted to find a contractor I could use for numerous other projects and I was hoping it was John.  I asked him over and over to just keep me updated, but that failed to happen.

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Fabric awnings provide shade, reduce energy costs, and enhance outdoor aesthetics.

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.

You can indeed open your awning in winter. It’s a misconception that you can only open retractable awnings in the warmer months. In fact, modern awnings are strong enough to offer a little respite from the snow if you’re someone who enjoys sipping hot cocoa outside on a beautiful winter day. But if a big storm is coming, such as a hurricane or a blizzard, it’s best to close your awning until the weather calms down.

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

Regularly clean with mild detergent and water, and inspect for rust or damage.
