Customers say: Quick response

"I've now used Smart Window Cleaning twice, about 9 or so months apart. They cleaned all of the windows in my full floor Victorian flat in San Francisco and did a great job. We have a combination of old, historic windows in the front, and original pane glass windows and doors in the back, as well as some more modern standard windows. Both times they worked as a team of two people, and systematically worked from inside the house, starting at the front and making their way to the back, and washed every window by hand. It took them about 1.5 hours and they were efficient, friendly, neat, and most importantly -- they were GOOD. They left our windows squeaky clean and gleaming!! And  boy, what a difference it makes, both inside and out!  We should really use this service more often, frankly, but at the least, I think it's a MUST once per year, and ideally, twice per year.  I just scheduled my third cleaning with them for next week.  Once again, they were prompt in responding to my call/inquiry, and got me scheduled quickly, on my first choice of dates (their availability depends on time of year and how busy it is; be sure to call ahead if you're looking for a specific day during the busy times of year). Truly "A" grade work all around!!
Just a note: I gave a "B" for punctuality, not because I was truly dissatisfied, but just because of the reality of when they showed up both times. Like most providers, they will give you a 'window' of time (no pun intended) and it's always a bit frustrating when providers show up at the last moment or just after that window. The first time they arrived just after the quoted timeframe, the second time, they arrived at the end of the hour.  Both times, they called me from the van when they were on their way over to apologize. It didn't matter in the end, b/c they did a SUPERB job and they were SO NICE. These scheduling hiccups are just part of the reality of scheduling most service providers, but I'd reserve an "A" for a provider who is somehow able to be there on the early side :-)

Small jobs welcome

"Christopher arrived when promised. He cleaned all the areas that I asked him to and did a thorough job in all the spaces. The wall and crown moldings in the living and dining rooms were cleaned or wiped down. The light fixtures were cleaned in all the rooms. He paid close attention to the bathroom and kitchen and behind the washer and dryer in the laundry room. He In addition I asked him to clean the windows and to wipe down the sills (15 of them) and they were spotless. He spent a lot of time making sure everything was clean."

"I recently had the pleasure of hiring Yesenia fromYG Cleaning to tackle the daunting task of cleaning and sanitizing my kitchen and three bathrooms, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. She and her team were prompt, courteous, and attentive to my specific cleaning needs. They even went above and beyond and cleaned some additional items that weren’t in the scope of work. Their attention to details was impressive! I feel lucky that I found YG cleaning and will continue to work with them. I definitely recommend YG cleaning! Mona"

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It is not advisable to use salt on your roof to prevent or remove ice dams. It’s not only mostly ineffective but can also cause serious damage to your roof itself. Salt can rust metal, damage masonry, pit shingles, and cause runoff that’s damaging to plants and animals.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Iron, or ferrous sulfate, is one of the fastest methods for killing moss. As such, you’ll find this ingredient in many lawn fertilizers and lawn killers. Vinegar is another solution for quickly killing moss. It takes just 15 to 20 minutes for vinegar to take effect. A harsher method is bleach, which also has a similar time frame for taking effect.

The average cost to clean a roof is around $500, but prices can fall between $150 to $1,000 or more. The size and complexity of your roof are the most significant cost factors, as larger roofs and those with various bump-outs and gables will increase your cost. Your roof material will also make a difference. An asphalt roof will require more labor, as your professional will need to be careful not to damage the shingles. A metal roof can stand up to more intense scrubbing and shouldn’t take as long to clean.

It is possible to wash your own roof, but we don’t recommend it. First, getting up on any roof is dangerous without proper safety equipment, especially if wetting a metal roof and making the surface slick. Additionally, it’s easy to damage your roof or force water between roof seams if you use a power washer, which can lead to property damage. Hiring a professional roof cleaner will save you time, keep you safe, and ensure that your roof looks new again without damaging it in the process. Plus, roof cleaning is a relatively affordable home improvement project.
