"I currently have a house for rent in San Diego when water damage was discovered in the master bedroom closet by my new tenant--who had just moved in two months prior to the discovery. The tenant then informed me about the water damage, which according to a plumber, was from a leak within the bathroom. I decided to call Hometown Restoration and ended up getting in contact with Justin. I told Justin all about the water damage before he came to the house to give me a quote. I then ended up asking Justin a large number of questions, to which he responded to them rather quickly and in a kindly manner; moreover, Justin had explained thoroughly what needed to be done to remediate, rebuild and why. This all because Justin knew what he was doing. Justin even provided me with a video of the finished product because I live outside of the country. Overall, I am satisfied with the way Hometown Restoration handled the tenant and I's problem and would extremely recommend to anyone who has problems within their home. Keep up the good work! :)"

"Overall, they did a good job. They are friendly and very helpful. we had a little mess to clean up after, but to be fair, I didn't complain -- if i had they would have come back. Preferably they would have come back to check on their own."

"Miller and his colleagues were able to do a lot of things quickly. Along with everything else, they also grabbed some old furniture that I needed help moving to the curb. They took several cares to make sure nothing was damaged during the move, including wrapping the furniture, turning off all the lights, and packaging the picture frames."

If your water filter has mold, immediately clean it with a solution of vinegar and water to disinfect and remove the mold. Soak the filter for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. If mold is still present, replace the filter to ensure your water remains safe to drink. Regular maintenance and timely cleaning can help prevent mold growth in the future.

You probably have mold on your shower curtains because mold and mildew thrive and spread in warm, dark, wet, and unventilated spaces. Your shower is the perfect environment, especially the shower curtains, because they trap water in the folds and creases, plus they’re exposed to the most water spray. The best way to ensure mold stays off your shower curtains is to keep it dry so it doesn’t have a place to grow. Doing this can also help keep mold off your bathroom ceiling.

While water in your basement is unlikely to make you sick unless it’s coming from a sewage backup, mold is likely to start to grow in wet areas within 24 hours, and mold can make you sick. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), inhaling mold spores can cause allergy symptoms, including runny nose, itchy eyes, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and itchy skin. Individuals with pre-existing respiratory issues like asthma and immunocompromised individuals are at an elevated risk of symptoms when inhaling mold spores.

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

Eliminating mold from wood permanently poses a challenge as the mold spores have the ability to deeply penetrate the porous wood surface. While surface mold can be effectively eradicated with proper cleaning and preventative measures, it's difficult to guarantee its non-recurrence under favorable conditions. To prevent mold from reappearing, it is important to identify and resolve the root cause of the moisture that triggered mold growth initially.

Ensuring appropriate ventilation and a dry environment, or consider applying protective finishes such as sealant, varnish, or paint to prevent future moisture penetration and mold growth. Consistently inspect and maintain the area to keep the wood free from mold in the long term.
