"Carter answered my submittal with a phone call in about 30 seconds. Very nice to see a young, eager entrepreneur building his business. I needed a small slab poured for an HVAC unit, and he had me very detailed plans within a few hours, and competed the job on time and budget. Will definitely be hiring again and it's nice to support local growing talent. 10/10 recommend."

"Garrett was a pleasure! Very professional and had a great (very long) pitch. We spent nearly three hours going over everything from Dabella's business ethics to viewing samples of the products and what it could potentially look like in our home. Everything seemed dandy and good quality. However the price was way out of our budget, even with their financing options (in total the price was comparable to my Subaru Legacy!) to convert our shower to a tub. Not to mention that I really didn't like the aesthetic of their acrylic products (which is the only choice btw). We initially had agreed to hire them but I just couldn't commit to something that I fully wasn't in love with. I'm sure other people would find their products appealing, but it just wasn't for us."

Plumbing Handymen questions, answered by experts

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. It’s best to keep these drains separate using individual waste collection for this reason.

Yes, you can put a bathroom in a bump-out. Some homeowners build a bump-out to enhance their bathrooms with new sinks, vanities, tubs, showers, or linen closets. Depending on the layout of your bathroom and what you’re adding to it, you may need to install new plumbing or reroute your existing plumbing lines.

On average, it takes four to eight hours to install a pedestal sink. However, several factors will influence how much time it takes to install a pedestal sink, including:

  • A replacement will take longer to put in than a new install

  • The size and weight of the pedestal sink—a pro may need an apprentice for help

  • It will take longer to change the sink type vs. replacing the pedestal with a duplicate

No, shower valves and cartridges are not universal. They must match and typically come from the same manufacturer. Mixing and matching different brands is unlikely to work and can cause issues like leaks or malfunctioning faucets. To find the correct replacement, check the old valve or cartridge for a brand name, model number, or serial number. If you cannot find this information, contact the manufacturer or check their website to determine which parts are compatible.

Yes, an ambitious homeowner could decide to replace their own toilet. A person attempting to do a DIY toilet installation should keep in mind that the average toilet weighs between 100 and 120 pounds. That means that you'll need to be comfortable lifting and carrying your old toilet and replacement toilet during both phases of the project. Additionally, homeowners will need to have basic plumbing knowledge to avoid plumbing problems that could result in messy, expensive water damage in their bathrooms. Hiring a plumbing pro from the get-go can help you avoid damaging your plumbing or your new toilet.
