"Did a good job initially. Did not install small plugs that cover the screws holding the window to the frame. Failed to respond to come back and do it. Some cosmetic drawback to their good job. Weak customer services!"

"Reached out to Shane about my windows being replaced to comply with egress. As my house was built back in the 1970s. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and reasonable. I would definitely recommend him and his helper for any glazing work, you may need. I am already working with him on my next project, can not wait!"

"SGK came out and replaced 4 of our windows earlier this year. The team was professional and helpful from the office staff down to the installers. We love our new windows and we won't hesitate to use SGK again for future projects."

"Manuel is truly a house-saver. Not only did he keep me updated on his arrival time (he was only five minutes late), he was nice, had great attention to detail, cleaned up afterwords, and was great with all the little and big things I needed done to the house we just moved into. In fact, when something I installed fell down ten minutes after he left, he came back to do it right without any hesitation and saved my day. In fact, I am writing this review as I get ready to call him again for a second round of fixes and installations."

"the job ran over by 1 week, likely due to additional plumbing work required.
Bathroom turned out good, all the items were installed very well with no issue, flooring looks very good.
Kitchen did not turn out so well, the floors were uneven and there were gaps between baseboard and the tile.  Dishwasher was not installed property the first time so it leaked.
Overall, it was a mixed bag.  Bathroom is still very good 6 months after the job, the tile in the kitchen is uneven but it could be due to the leveling from the old house, but I wish he could have told me before he layed it."

"First, Rani was able to come out and do an estimate quickly, which was great since I wanted to get the repairs done before I moved in (I had just bought the house).
The laundry room door widening, exterior wall repair, window replacements all went perfectly. The door was exactly the size and location I wanted and the paint matched perfectly (which I was a bit worried about as one side of the wall was a fairly strong orange color). The exterior paint also matched perfectly. The windows look great and are extremely easy to open -- it's a pleasure to use them.
The bathroom fan replacement had a few hiccups. The fan/heater combos themselves were very nice and well-priced, but the original installation left gaps in the ceiling in the master bath and some drywall scattered around. Rani was extremely responsive when I contacted him about this, however, and had someone over the next day to fill in the gaps. It took another few days to get the ceiling painted, but the final result was of the same caliber as the other three repairs.
The windows and fans were excellent quality for the amount they cost, and overall I got excellent quality work quickly and was pleased with the results.

"Great communication and great service. Chris showed up as scheduled to estimate, provided an accurate quote, and was able to schedule a worker to come in just four days later. The drywall finish work was excellent. But Chris earned our highest respect after the job was finished: Chris' drywaller used our utility sink as a water source for mixing plaster and for some clean up, and a few hours after the work was done we found that it would not drain correctly. Chris came over right away on a Saturday evening and snaked the drain, even snaked the other plumbing nearby to fix the problem. Made sure we were completely satisfied before calling the job complete. He also sent a Thank You card a few days later. Our job was pretty small compared to many remodel projects, but Chris treated us like we were his number one priority."

Glass Block Windows questions, answered by experts

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on the number of blocks and customization requirements.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Although glass block windows are made of multiple layers of thick glass, they can still break. If an individual block shatters, it can be removed and replaced, but this is a job for a window repair professional. The project is often complex and may require breaking the block further for removal. Do not attempt to handle it yourself, as the broken glass can be dangerously sharp. A professional will have the necessary tools and expertise to replace the broken glass block quickly and safely. Before hiring, confirm that the repair pro has experience with this specific type of window.
