"We were very lucky to find Emrom Electric and Emmanuel Mbisse. Our 100+ year old house in Berkeley needed complete rewiring after a short circuit and inspection. Emrom was able to start this huge job within a week or two, saving us a lot of money in tenants' dislocation expenses. Emmanuel was a pleasure to work with, providing explanations and giving us options along the way. He got the job done faster than we had hoped in a good, professional manner for a fair price. We would recommend Emrom to anyone and will definitely be contacting them for any future electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"I needed to have a charging station installed in my garage after purchasing an EV Bolt. I didn't know of any electricians and so I tired Home Advisor. I filled out a request on Sunday and Monday morning Tony Munguia called to say he could come at 1 PM to give me an estimate. He was promptly at my front door at 1 PM and he was very thorough in his estimate. He used a calculator on his phone to see if the correct wire size would fit in my existing conduit that went from our house to the detached garage. He was very personable and I connected with him while he explained his estimate. I accepted it and he and crew came promptly at 8 AM and excellently install the craving station in my garage. They cleaned up after themselves and completed the jon by 4:30 PM. I now k now of an excellent electrical contractor in Marin should I need one in the future. I would highly recommend their services."

Customers say: Quality work

"Stephen was knowledgeable about the Code requirements for Oakland (not all of the electricians who quoted on the job were) and flexible in working through the equipment needs (a panel and a subpanel). He and his crew (Jeff and Tom) were quick, clean and efficient in the installation and the price for the work was fair. I definitely would hire them again if I need more electrical work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

New Sonoma homeowners should prioritize a comprehensive electrical safety audit, focusing on wildfire preparedness and panel capacity. Upgrading to GFCI outlets in outdoor and wet areas, installing whole-house surge protection, and preparing for generator installation are wise steps. Consider adding EV charging stations, updating landscape lighting for fire safety, and modernizing wine cellar electrical systems to align with Sonoma’s unique climate and lifestyle.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Sonoma often encounter hidden costs like wildfire safety upgrades, additional permit fees, and specialized equipment for outdoor living spaces. If your property has rocky soil, trenching for underground wiring can be more complex. Tree trimming for power line clearance and mandatory safety inspections may also arise. In older homes, asbestos or lead testing and remediation are sometimes required before electrical work can proceed.

Helpful?

In Sonoma, warning signs include persistent flickering lights, especially during seasonal power shutoffs, or frequent circuit breaker trips when using wine cellar equipment or outdoor lighting. If you notice burning smells near older wiring, buzzing outlets, or outdated knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring in historic homes, it’s time to call a licensed electrical contractor for an inspection to ensure your home meets current safety standards.

Helpful?

In Sonoma, electrical issues often show as dimming lights when large appliances start, non-working outlets after power restoration, or frequent breaker trips during hot weather. If only your HVAC or appliances are malfunctioning, those systems may need repair instead. Outdoor lighting failures could be due to irrigation or weather-related wiring damage. Consulting a licensed electrical contractor helps determine whether you need electrical work or another type of home service.

Helpful?

The timeline for electrical projects in Sonoma varies by project type and season. Simple panel upgrades typically take 1-2 days, while whole-home rewiring may require 3-5 days. Permit approval can add 2-4 weeks, and scheduling with local utilities for wildfire safety may extend timelines further. During peak wine country events or harvest, expect electrical contractor availability to be limited, which can delay project completion.
