"My wife and I employed Ranch Hands Construction to replace our exterior deck and staircase last year. We were extremely pleased with the job they did and the professionalism of their employees. This Fall, when we were looking for someone to remodel our master bathroom, we gave them a call. Jean Claude did the estimate. He was very helpful with suggestions to improve the functionality of some of our design choices. Their bid was straightforward, complete and unambiguous. We opted to give them the job. Our project was led by Bill Davis. He and his apprentice, Donald, were fantastic. He always kept my wife and I advised when they showed up in the morning, went to lunch and left for the day. They took great care to protect our bedroom during demolition and drywall. The workspace was left clean and organized at the end of each day. Our project was complicated and involved running new drains, plumbing and electrical. Bill took great care in making everything not only look good, but be functional and easy to maintain. When unforeseen issues came up, he promptly informed us, explained the issues and provided solutions. The decision was always ours. I would highly recommend Ranch Hands to anyone. They've done a great job for us. We will definitely use them again on our next project."

"Jordan was able to quote the job over the phone, as he has installed wall doggie doors in the past. He arrived on time, did a beautiful job, it works perfectly, and he cleaned up after he was done. He's very personable and we will definitely use him in the future."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Baseboard heaters are generally safe and efficient, but they can be dangerous if safety precautions are not followed. To ensure safety, do not block the heaters with furniture, drapes, open doors, or other items, and maintain clear space around them for proper heat flow. Regularly check that items have not fallen on or under the units. If you have children or pets, make sure they stay clear of hot heaters to avoid burns. For added safety, consider models with an automatic shut-off feature and have them professionally tested. If a problem occurs with a baseboard heater, always contact a qualified electrician or HVAC professional for repairs.

Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.

Attics often contain a mix of insulation, electrical wiring, and other materials that can pose fire risks. That’s why furnaces should be installed in the attic with proper insulation and clearance from combustible materials. Additionally, the furnace should be equipped with proper ventilation and heat shields to prevent the buildup of excessive heat in the attic space. Regular inspections and maintenance are also crucial to identify and address any potential fire hazards.

Pellet stoves burn compressed wood byproducts, making them very efficient and clean-burning. However, even efficient combustion still produces fine dust particles, which could have an effect on the health of vulnerable people in your household, such as infants and people with asthma. A wood stove pro can help determine whether the levels in your home are unsafe.

You should have either an ABC or K-rated fire extinguisher in the kitchen. ABC fire extinguishers put out wood, trash, paper, plastic, and textile fires along with grease, oil, gas, kerosene, and electrical fires. A class K fire extinguisher is specifically rated for use in the kitchen and is designed to extinguish combustible cooking materials, including grease and fat.
