"This company was hired by my home insurance as a subcontractor and gets paid directly by the insurance.  And yet, they filed a frivolous mechanics lien against my property only a month after the work, without providing any prior preliminary notice.  This is after I received a letter from the insurance company stating that everything was paid in full.  Instead of checking up with the insurance company for any discrepancies or contacting me to discuss the matter further, they just jump right into filing a frivolous and invalid lien.  Looks like this is what this company usually does to the homeowners after just one billing cycle based on other reviews online.  This is their go-to billing method.  Unconscionable and unethical!  I will have to hire a lawyer to look into their unusual billing tactics.  Not only that, they left my window frames damaged, and left a sharp metal spike sticking out on my bedroom carpet.  I could have gotten seriously injured if I stepped on it.  They also left items damaged from the demolition, which needed to be hauled away, with sharp nails sticking out, right in my bedroom.  The gentleman who came out to do the initial evaluation was nice, but other employees seemed unhappy.  Terrible company!"

ERI is a family owned and operated company servicing the greater San Francisco Bay Area and its surrounding communities. ERI is unique in that, of it's 26 employees, only 5 employees are not related to any one else in the company. ERI maintains all of the required certificates and state licenses set forth by the California State License Board, as well as other local, state, and federal regulations. Contractors License Contractors State License Board License #840442 Class B - General Building Contractor ASB - Asbestos Certificate of Registration for Asbestos-related Work Department of Industrial Relations Division of Occupational Safety and Health Certificate #854 Hazardous Materials Certificate of Registration Department of Transportation Registration # 050609 551 030RS Hazardous Waste Transporter Registration Department of Toxic Substance Control Transporter Registration # 4793 EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Certificate # NAT-75042-1

"I hired ERI for two different jobs - removing popcorn ceiling and removing asbestos containing ducting. In both cases asbestos containing material was clearly left behind after they supposedly finished the job. They tried to charge me over $1000 extra to come back and finish the job. It seemed very unprofessional to me and when I tried to share these concerns with them over the phone in a reasonable manner, I was rudely talked down to by one of their managers. Meanwhile, the presence of asbestos was preventing us from getting our HVAC system fixed by another company and we ended up going for weeks without heat in the middle of winter. It seems like their main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible, and they couldn't care less about your safety or satisfaction. I highly recommend you do not hire this company."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

Costs depend on test type, home size, number of testing locations, and whether follow-up testing is required.

Exterior paint contains a higher level of VOCs, which can be dangerous if you’re exposed to it for a long period of time. The good news is that paint’s toxicity reduces significantly once fully dried and cured. Do not keep open exterior paint cans in your home, basement, or garage, exposing your household to harmful chemicals over time.

Some causes of brown well water—like excess tannins or dissolved iron—don’t pose a health risk. In other cases, harmful bacteria might be the culprit. If your well water has suddenly turned brown, it’s a good idea to use a home water test kit to get a better sense of what’s going on with your water. Consider calling a professional for an expert opinion before drinking the water and hoping for the best.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.
