"Staying at home for so long we finally decided to take out the old pool. Campbell Services is great! We have really nice landscaping, so they did a partial pool demolition and filled in the old pool without ruining our landscaping. They brought in multiple Dump trucks of clean fill, they used Limited Access Machines; they are specialized micro sized equipment used especially to break down the sides of the pool and fill it in with clean fill. Campbell Services used their specialized equipment and didn’t even disrupt our landscaping. We love our new backyard!"

"Paul is a reliable contractor with a good crew. They came on time and seal-coated my driveway with great care for details. Excellent communications and none of the corner-cutting I saw from other less-professional contractors. I highly recommend Paul and his Pacific West Asphalt."

"I contacted him after finding his business on Yelp. He answered when we called on a Saturday afternoon. He was able to come out on short notice. The problem was that tampons had clogged the plumbing’s lines. It was a disaster of a mess and he cleaned everything up very well after the problem was resolved. He came out on short notice on a Saturday afternoon. He was very pleasant, professional and meticulous. We are very happy with his service."

"Jorge, Mauro and the team at Viking Pavers did an excellent job installing a new patio and walkway in my backyard. They dug up the old, broken concrete, leveled the ground and put in McNear Cobblestone Charcoal and Tan pavers. What a difference! My yard is starting to look less like the Sanford & Son scene I inherited when I bought the house.
They were flexible when I had them rearrange the pattern bit which took extra time, but all in all they finished it in two days. They kept the communication lines open and were easy to get a hold of. I'd call them again and am hoping to have them do my front walkway and steps next.

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

When considering the price of drilling a well, factor in how much you’ll save in water costs per year. The average family of four uses 100 gallons of water per person per day in the U.S. With a private water well, you can save hundreds each year.

Wells are also environmentally friendly. You don’t need to worry about drinking water treated with chemicals. Talk to at least three well pump contractors in your area. They’ll be able to tell you more about your options, give you different quotes, and discuss the biggest concerns.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.
