"If the more stars could be given, I would. I’m so pleased and happy with the performance, the product, the design, the quality of the frame and the canvases material, that I don’t even know to starting my review. I’m ecstatic beyond words could described. Having the awning installed, it instantly gives a more polished look to the patio and added value to my home. More importantly, this installation was done in a day, and the price is so much more affordable; Also, I can change the canvas anytime that I choose to. During the process an after, my patio stayed clean. No messiness with concrete, bricks, cement, ton of materials laying around, etc. Before, my patio was dull boring looking, no cover when I want to sit outside. Now I can sit outside day or night, and have plenty of room for a bigger crowd. But what is so essential that, I’m so impressed with this company who rendered the service of installing the awning. Quick, professional, friendly, pleasant and everything was throughly explained. I’m definitely would hired this company again for any future service need. The only regret I have (after seeing the result, the benefit of having the awning to the patio), is that I wish I could’ve done it sooner. I am 100% satisfied customer. I am so glad that I have picked this company to do the work."

"The patio cover was installed without any major hiccups. It was installed as designed. The pricing was very competitive. However, the installer made some minor mistakes. When these mistakes were brought to the attention of the company owner, the mistakes were corrected and a courtesy refund issued for any inconveniences caused. I would use PatioCrew again and recommend them to friends and colleagues.

"Aero Patio installed a patio cover for my backyard.  The initial install  went alright.  It was supposed to have a shade cloth put on which ended up taking three months to get.  I had told them it was important to me to have it to prevent the sun from heating up the back of the house.  That was frustrating. Last October, 2015, I noticed  rainwater was collecting in one of the lattice tubes and pouring out of the end. Even though two years have passed, it is still under warranty.  Contacted Steve - took two weeks to get him to come and look. Another couple of weeks came and went, but to their credit, he finally  had an employee come and fill holes with a putty ( or glue).  This repair did not work and Steve said he would need to replace that lattice tube. Have been contacting Steve since last December to come and replace the  leaking lattice tube.  Always an excuse for not coming.  Last time I spoke to him  he said he would get it repaired soon.  That was four months ago and he will no longer answer my phone calls."

"The awning is fine. They could do a retractable large awning and they had good pricing and they were creative in how they could have install it. The other people couldn't make one word and  they did. They're very good."

"Not as well as I hoped. This is my second metal patio cover. The previous cover was done by another contractor whose professionalism and quality were stellar. Tom's was less so by contrast. The bid did not specify what was to be done with the excavated footing soil. As such I was left to dispose of soil. My bad, I should have addressed it. However, I cannot help but feel a professional company would have brought up my lack of foresight. Tom's company seems to sell the job out to an installer. This created a communication issue between the 3 of us. The installer was also hurried. Workmanship could also have been better, especially compared to my other cover. I'm not talking about materials. Specifically, cuts, measurements, and installation techniques."

"I was especially pleased that David phoned the day before to reconfirm the appointment.  He arrived at the agreed upon time.  I first walked him through the house, pointing out concerns with the windows and mentioning that I had recently had a lot of renovation work done due to a major kitchen flood, so the windows were very dirty.  David gathered his equipment and quietly began to work.  He was professional, clean, thorough. efficient and very knowledgeable.  This is a family business. He spent time explaining some screen particulars, which I appreciated.  The work was completed in a very timely manner.

I highly recommend David and plan to use his services in the future.

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. Unlike hurricane screens, which are permanently attached to your home, hurricane fabric is installed over your windows and other openings before a storm.

In terms of effectiveness, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. When installed properly, it is designed to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage.

While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by flying debris at high velocity. However, it is a good protective measure against an impending storm. For comparison, hurricane fabric is more protective and durable than hurricane window film. While boarding up windows is easier than installing the fabric, it is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood.

To further increase the chances of your windows surviving a hurricane, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items, elevating HVAC units, and fortifying your home's foundation.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

It’s best to keep your awning retracted if winds are 25 miles per hour or more to make sure your awning doesn’t sustain irreparable damage due to wind. Some awnings can take winds up to 30 miles per hour without any damage, but it’s best to consult the manufacturer’s guidance. A good rule of thumb is if it’s too windy for you to comfortably stand outside, it’s time to bring the awning in.

There are many materials to choose from, including picket fencing, wood slats, galvanized metal skirting, dog-ear fence panels, scallop wood fence panels, bamboo screens, and other decorative screens. You can search for materials at local big box stores like Home Depot or scour online home improvement sites. Good search terms to use are fencing, skirting, and privacy panels.

Fabric awnings provide shade, reduce energy costs, and enhance outdoor aesthetics.
