Customers say: Super punctual

"The owner came out to inspect our chimney and was able to the work the same day. He was a pleasure to work with and clearly loved what he does. He took the time to explain in detail the types of cement and layers that would be needed to repair the cracks on the top of our chimney as well as put in a new spark guard. Did everything necessary for a working fireplace for us to enjoy for winter. Gave recommendations for further work down the road when we are ready. Was not pushy about more work than what was necessary. Would recommend."

"We decided to remodel our outdated bathroom, and McCormick Home Builders was a fantastic choice. Khaled and the team delivered high-quality work within the timeline and our budget. Every detail, from the tile work to the lighting, was beautifully done. They communicated well throughout, keeping us informed at every step, and the end result was truly a spa-like bathroom we can enjoy daily. We’d love to work with them again!"

"I had a very good experience. David came to my house and did an inspection, and he found the problem very quickly. He fixed it, gave me a warranty and a good price, and he called me a few days later to check if everything was okay. I will definitely use them again!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

No, a chimney crown is not the same as a chimney cap. A chimney crown is a flat cement area on top of a masonry chimney. It starts where the masonry part of the chimney ends at the very top and domes upward toward the flue opening. A chimney cap sits on top of the crown over the flue. It is usually made of metal and allows smoke to escape without letting in rainwater.

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

To ensure optimal roof health, it’s a good idea to get an inspection once a year. However, certain factors may require more frequent checks. If your area experiences severe weather conditions such as hailstorms, high winds, or heavy snowfall, it is advisable to inspect your roof afterward. Older roofs are more susceptible to wear and tear, so if your roof is approaching its expected lifespan or has yet to be inspected in several years, it’s a good idea to schedule a roof inspection or estimate.

The three main types of home inspections you should always carry out for new construction include a pre-drywall inspection, a post-drywall inspection, and a one-year inspection. The pre-drywall inspection can identify building code violations, issues with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC components, and structural issues. The post-drywall inspection can identify damaged building materials, insufficient insulation, and more. An inspection at the one-year mark after construction will identify problems your builder must fix under their comprehensive one-year warranty.

If you need to replace the roof over your attached garage, a roofing contractor can perform what is called a partial roof replacement that only affects garage roofing. However, it's important to keep in mind that only replacing a portion of your roof creates a situation where your roofing has two different lifespans. You will also miss out on the opportunity for a full roof warranty. In some cases, having two different roofs on your home could increase risks for leaks. When replacing the roof on a detached garage, homeowners have the option to make the project bigger by upgrading their home roof alongside their garage roof. However, this isn't necessary if your home has a newer, properly functioning roof. It is better to try to match the new garage roof to your home's existing roof instead.
