"We just had two fireplaces re-done; with a cracked panel replaced, new log vent system installed and the back panels painted. Kelly was super responsive, incredibly professional and the most knowledgeable we came across during our fireplace update search. He said he’d been doing this for 15 years and you can tell! One thing that impressed me the most was how clean he left our house afterwards. Often when workmen come in the house it is left with mess, but Kelly laid down protective coverings and ensured the area was just as clean as he found it. I appreciated his attention to detail. Definitely recommend!"

"Our phone conversation set the scope of the job as reattching/repairing the chimney crown and sweeping the chimney.  Rich estimated the cost of $150-$200 for work on the crown and $ 99 to sweep the chimney.  After arriving at the house and looking at the chimney, he indicated the chimney did not need to be swept and the crown only needed to be reattached.  He adjusted the cost to match the reduced work load.
We willl call upon him again should we need work on the chimney in the future.

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Whether replacing the entire roof or just installing roof shingle replacements in small areas, always pull up the old roof shingles. While you can technically put new roof shingles (but not other roof materials) over old shingles, this can add weight strain to the roof and prevent the new shingles from securing properly to the roof.

The cost to install roof heating cables typically ranges from $500 to $2,000, with an average of around $1,000. On a per-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $8 and $15 per linear foot. Key factors that influence the final price include the size and complexity of your roof, roof pitch, the type and length of the cable, the price of the system itself, labor fees, and whether any additional electrical work is required. Generally, smaller roofs will cost less than larger ones. The total cost usually includes both materials and professional installation.

Yes, copper roof strips can help prevent shingle damage and are an alternative to algae-resistant shingles. They work in a similar way: they release copper ions that interfere with algae, moss, and other plant growth. Algae feeds on limestone in your roof shingles, and moss can uplift shingles and increase the risk of leaks. If you have issues with algae or moss on your roof, copper roof strips can help avoid damage.

Sometimes. Professionals may be able to remove the old roof and re-attach it when completed, depending on your blueprints. That can help you save money. But this method is not without its risks. Larger roofs may crack during the transportation process. And if the roof is old or has problems, it may be better to replace it entirely. Keeping the old roof isn’t always possible if you are making significant alterations to the roofline.

The lifespan of asphalt shingles is typically between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type of shingle and other factors. Standard 3-tab shingles have the shortest lifespan, around 10 to 15 years. Architectural shingles last longer, averaging 20 to 25 years. Luxury or designer asphalt shingles are the most durable, with a lifespan of 40 years or more. Climate, installation quality, and regular maintenance also play a significant role in how long your shingles will last. Signs that they need replacement include granule loss, bald spots, and roof leaks.
