"Kelly Rowe completed inspection of the chimney and fireplace. Kelly’s inspection revealed that the chimney is clean and no additional work needs to be done. Kelly is very safety conscious and thorough and pointed out that the way the logs are stacked is dangerous and unsafe because it can produce carbon monoxide when fireplace is turned on. He further rearranged the logs to make the fireplace safe. Kelly also gave advice on keeping the damper open and other safety related tips. Kelly is very punctual, ethical, knowledgeable, and professional. He also responded thoroughly to my follow up questions. Will definitely recommend to friends, family, and other individuals looking for chimney inspection and cleaning service."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

You should have a professional inspect your new roof to ensure it's structurally sound and free of potential problems, such as improper installation or leaks. The inspector will also check for proper ventilation, which is crucial to a healthy roofing system. Having your new roof inspected will offer peace of mind, knowing that your investment will last years to come.

Whether you should repair or replace your roof boils down to the scope of the damage. If you need to replace more than 20% or 30% of your roof, then it’s probably a good idea to just replace the entire roof, as leaving older sections up can leave parts of your roof open to more issues. By replacing your roof, you can have peace of mind that no pesky leaks are sneaking into your home.

In most cases, a roof inspection will include a visual inspection of the exterior roofing materials, an interior inspection for signs of leaking or roof damage, and an assessment of the structural stability of your roof and the materials supporting it. Some things your roof inspector will look for include the following:

  • Missing or damaged shingles, flashing, or sealant

  • Signs of old age

  • Signs of leaks, including mold growth and water stains

  • Potential issues, like tree branches touching your roof

  • Signs of a loss of structural integrity

In most cases, yes, you will need to be home while your roof inspector checks your roof. The inspector will be able to complete the exterior assessment without input from you, but they will also need access to your attic space to look for signs of leaking, like pest infestation, water stains, mold growth, and visible holes leading to the exterior. They will also check the roof trusses, rafters, and supports to confirm their structural integrity. Roof inspections usually take between two and three hours, so plan accordingly.

Shingle damage comes in many forms, and the damage usually depends on the wind speed and the shape of the roof before the winds. Typically, when shingles are damaged by wind, they become torn, creased, or detached from the roof. Some might go missing entirely. More extensive roof damage might occur if a tree branch or other debris has fallen onto the roof as a result of the windstorm.
