Customers say: Quick response

"Jose Garcia, the owner of JRG Masonry, did an excellent job on repairing my brick wall and planter box. He is very professional and is an expert at doing his job. He has over 30 years experience in the masonry business. Jose is very honest and came right over to my home on the day that I called him to give me a quote of how much this project would cost me. Since he has so much experience in his field, he knew that the bricks in my wall and planter were no longer manufactured. Because my bricks have a pattern on them, that cannot be replaced, Jose figured out how he could reuse some of the bricks that were hidden from sight and replace them with a similar brick. Since Jose is so professional, he re-enforced the parts of the wall that he repaired even though the people who built the original wall had not supported it the proper way. Jose started and finished repairing my wall and planter on the day after I called him. With his experience in brick work, he finished the job in less than 5 hours. It was a job that I thought would take more than a day. When he left, he had cleaned everything up and my wall and planter looked fantastic. O. P. Johnson Huntington Beach, CA"

"I contacted Sam from Chiseled Stone Masonry to repair my privacy wall. It was an emergency because my dog and the neighbors dog broke out a few of the blocks and one dog was badly bitten. Sam contacted me immediately, asked for photos and scheduled a premise visit right away. The repair was scheduled for the following Saturday, but my neighbor refused to give his consent so I had to cancel. So, technically I haven't had the work done, he was amazing and I plan to use him once my neighbor comes to his senses. Therefore, I still gave him a 5 star rating because I have faith."

"Conrad and his team at Del Mar Landscaping are great. His guys are very respectful and do excellent work at a fair price. They made sure they finished the job during a very uncertain time (Coronavirus pandemic), which is much appreciated and also made sure they cleaned up everything when they were done. Second time I've used them. Highly recommended."

"Robert poured the slab for my backyard workshop with precision and a level of care I have never seen from a concrete guy. He was the only one I contacted who answered my initial phone call, and he was on top of things from the start. The other companies I called only took messages, and never called back (I had to call and bug them). Most never quoted! His quote was prompt and completely reasonable. From first contact to completion was just a few days, even though he had a serious family issue to contend with. I have a very good and trusted concrete guy now, whom I know I can rely on!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

For masonry work in Orange County, begin by confirming all necessary permits and reviewing local zoning for setback requirements, especially for retaining walls and patios. If your property is part of an HOA, secure their approval early. Schedule projects during dry, mild weather to avoid delays. Plan for material delivery access in tight neighborhoods, and choose earthquake-resistant methods to meet local safety standards.

Helpful?

In Orange County, cracks that widen over time, multiple intersecting crack patterns, or persistent moisture in mortar joints can signal bigger problems ahead. Expansive clay soils and seismic activity can quickly worsen minor damage. If you notice bricks shifting, mold growth, or salt deposits, document changes and schedule regular inspections to catch issues before they require major masonry repairs.

Helpful?

To enhance safety in Orange County, opt for rounded edges on retaining walls near play areas, use slip-resistant finishes on walkways, and ensure pool enclosures meet local safety codes. Choose smooth masonry surfaces to protect pets’ paws and design proper drainage to prevent puddles. For added protection, use fire-resistant materials in high-risk zones and reinforce structures to withstand earthquakes and strong winds.

Helpful?

For small masonry tasks in Orange County, you can gently clean surfaces with mild detergent and water, patch tiny mortar gaps under 1/4 inch, or apply a breathable sealer. Work during cooler parts of the day and ensure stable footing, especially on sloped lots. If you encounter deep cracks, need to work near utilities, or face structural concerns, stop and consult a professional.

Helpful?

In Orange County, issues like stair-step cracks, crumbling mortar, or shifting bricks often signal the need for masonry repair. If you notice white residue (efflorescence) or bulging retaining walls, these are clear signs. However, stains from sprinklers or surface discoloration may point to drainage or cleaning needs rather than structural masonry work, so assess the source before proceeding.
