"ASAP was great to work, they cut out a section that was cracked bad and repaved. Then came back and fixed cracks in repairable section and sealed it all. Very professional job and great price. Highly recommend. A local San Andreas homeowner of 35 years."

"I chose this business because of the ratings, so I had some high hopes for this very small job. My expectations were to make it safer for me and the other senior who lives here. I understood that it was a patch job. The crew did a sloppy job, I was left with a 3/4 inch lip on the top end one board that is a MORE dangerous tripping hazard than the holes., and runs 6 1/2 feet--(at least you could SEE the holes). The other top board that runs the the rest of the length of the deck is also a tripping hazard. (about 1/4 of an inch higher on the edge). He came back and fixed it, so I am satisfied."

"I had submitted a review that was incorrect. Angie's list has no mechanism to remove a review, so I here to say, whoops, I was thinking of a different contractor. Dan at Ultimate has been the only contractor to respond to my Angie's list request's for bids. Everyone please disregard the prior "F" rating. We haven't hired anyone yet, but Dan has been as good as his word in getting information to me. I wish the other Concrete contractors were as good about responding as Dan. If we hire him and proceed with the job, I'll let everyone know how it went, with pictures."

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

It’s usually not a big deal if your foundation sinks between 2 and 3 inches into the ground after construction, provided the settlement occurs evenly. This is usually indicative of normal settlement that occurs as the soil under your home adapts to the weight of the structure. If the home sinks more into the ground or the settlement occurs unevenly, leaving portions of your home to sink further down than others, then call a foundation repair specialist to address the issue and avoid additional damage.

Concrete can crack from general wear, improper installation, or in response to uneven support from the soil underneath. Small, thin cracks on the surface of aging concrete are usually a result of normal wear and tear, while cracks on new concrete more likely indicate a problem with installation. Larger cracks or uneven steps can signify a much more severe issue. A concrete contractor should be able to diagnose the cause and repair concrete cracks for you.

Many horizontal cracks in home foundations result from water and soil pressure from outside of the building or from a footing that is shifting. Under those circumstances, horizontal cracks are a structural problem that requires repair before they become worse and more difficult to fix. However, in very specific cases, thin horizontal cracks may simply be a cosmetic blemish due to concrete shrinkage.

Signs of structural damage include foundation cracks, roof leaks, bouncy floors, crumbling concrete, and cracked or leaning chimneys. Structural damage can make itself apparent in various ways, and sometimes, there may not be obvious signs. Inspect your foundation and roof annually to stay ahead of potentially serious structural problems.

You’ll need to reseal the foundation every five to 10 years, depending on the sealant you’ve used, the moisture conditions present in and around your home, and the condition of your foundation. Having a foundation inspection conducted before reapplication can help you catch any problems before you begin resealing. Of course, if you notice any new leaks or other moisture problems at any time, it may be necessary to reseal the foundation sooner.
