Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Capital Carpentry two weeks ago to address an issue with our door. I contacted Eugene, and he arrived quite promptly to assess the situation. Our door had sagged due to a beam above it settling down, which caused the door not to close properly, and the frame was damaged as a result. Eugene and his team of three arrived on the scheduled day and completed the job in one day, even though we initially planned for it to take two. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of their work. Their attention to detail is outstanding! They even cleaned the window and repainted our door! If we ever need carpentry services again, we will definitely call them, and we highly recommend Capital Carpentry to anyone in need of skilled carpentry work."

Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again."

"David did an excellent job installing our French entry door. He was punctual, professional, and completed the work quickly while keeping everything very clean. The installation was done at a high level of quality, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. On top of that, he is a very pleasant and respectful person to work with. Highly recommend!"

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Awning windows can have screens, but it depends on your manufacturer. If your awning window does have a screen, it will be on the interior side so it doesn’t get in the way when you crank the window open. Having the screen on the inner part of the window also makes it easier to clean from inside your home.

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.

Window screens can help keep some heat out of your home, which is one benefit of using them in summer. It’s also the reason experts suggest removing your screens in winter—so it’s easier for the sun’s warmth to filter into your home. This will keep you cozier and potentially reduce your heating bills.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.
