"John Hanen refinished 600 Sq Ft of my momâ s 63 year old oak hardwood floors using a three coat finish and they turned out beautiful! We didnâ t know what to expect when the carpets were removed, We discovered a few problem areas and John worked his magic and removed stains and filled in spaces with transitional pieces in front of the fireplace hearth and bathroom door. He was professional, showed up on time, answered all our questions, was hardworking, detail oriented and he went the extra mile. We highly recommend John from Against the Grain Flooring. "We needed to replace our old flooring. BFA Flooring Company responded quickly and in a timely manner to our request. In addition to the high-quality installation of floor coverings, we had a professional preparation of the floor coated with a waterproof layer so that there would be no moisture and mold in the future. Repair, preparation and installation were done very quickly, with high quality, for which we are very grateful to these guys and can recommend them to other home owners"

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent service from start to finish. He ground my demo floor thoroughly in preparation for the install, kept me updated throughout, and was courteous and punctual. The workmanship was top-notch and the site was left clean. Highly recommend for anyone needing floor prep or installation work. I don’t have a photo because drywallers have the floor covered up currently, but it’s basically perfectly ground and ready. Hire Nik if you want the job done right the first time and for a fair price."

"5 stars for Kavanaugh Flooring and Will. I don’t typically write reviews but these folks went above and beyond. Baseboards thru out the home, 1500 sq feet of LVP. On time, impeccable clean up, price was very reasonable, and job quality was excellent. I’d highly recommend them!"

"It’s been 8 years since Andrey and his men installed 12mm laminate flooring for us. We had carpet removed in 7 rooms and 2 hallways and new beautiful flooring placed all within 3 days. The floors still look spectacular and with some wear and in the high traffic areas some of the transition strips needed attention. I contacted Andrey and he sent Travis over to resolve our minor problems with the week. Absolutely brilliant job with such a quick response. I would definitely recommend Capitol Cabinets and Flooring for a professional, courteous and quality job."

Customers say: True professional

"We hired McCormick to remodel our master bathroom, and the process couldn’t have been smoother. Khaled guided us through everything, and his team was skilled and respectful. They handled the job efficiently, stayed within budget, and kept our home tidy. Now, our bathroom feels like a relaxing oasis, with high-quality finishes and a modern touch we love. McCormick’s attention to detail really made the difference, and I’d gladly hire them for future remodels. This experience was everything we hoped for."

"After my wife got a number of estimates, bids and recommendations to replace the common areas of our home she ended up choosing Nena. While it took some time for our flooring to come in from a separate vendor once we received it and contacted Nena for an installation date they quickly worked with us to set it up. Installation day came they arrived promptly just as they said they would. Once they got going the crew quickly got to work and before we knew it they were done! Ratico was amazing, professional and accommodating. He even touched up some unfinished work in another room when we just asked him for an opinion. He even finished our laundry room since we had extra planks to complete it at a very reasonable added cost. If we were to do more flooring or decide to change existing floors in other parts of the house we would not hesitate to give him a call immediately. We will definitely will be spreading the word and recommending them every chance we get."

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

The cost to install carpet is $1,780 on average for 330 square feet, the size of an average living room. This cost could range from $200 to $5,000, depending on the amount of carpet, material, and type of carpet.

If you need 500 square feet of carpet, it’ll cost $1,500 to $5,500, while 1,000 square feet of carpet costs $3,000 to $11,000. Polyester is one of the more affordable options, ranging from $1 to $3 per square foot. Wool is a more luxurious option, ranging from $4 to $20 per square foot.

While carpet over carpet may provide some additional insulation and soundproofing benefits, it's not as effective as other methods. Layering carpets can add a modest buffer against noise and temperature fluctuations, but it's limited compared to installing thicker carpet padding or using specialized soundproofing materials. For optimal floor insulation and soundproofing, consider alternative solutions tailored to your specific needs and budget, such as adding additional padding or soundproofing underlayments beneath the carpet.

If you live in a region with high humidity, carpet bubbling can occur regularly. A dehumidifier can help keep your carpet flat during the most humid months.

Carpeting with a low pile is both slip-resistant and soft, making it one of the safest types of flooring in the case of slips and falls. In order to be fully ADA-compliant, carpet shouldn’t exceed the thickness of half an inch, and you should secure the edges to the floor to prevent trip hazards.

Other ADA-compliant flooring options include hardwood, laminate, or ceramic tile with a gritty, anti-slip surface. Ceramic or porcelain tile are actually some of the best types of flooring for wheelchair users.
