"Cesar was very good at communicating and was helpful every step of the way. He takes pride in his work and aims to please. I am very happy with the end result. He painted my home exterior last year, and now I had my interior done as well. I have recommended him to friends, and he was recommended to me by several friends. That says a lot!"

"True Finish Painting. The name says it all, Professional! It’s tough finding painters In the mountain area, let alone a good one. We had several quotes to paint the outside of the house. His price was extremely reasonable. His workmanship was stellar from start to finish. He did a great job on the house. Looks wonderful. I highly recommend. True Finish Painting"

"When we met with Tom we were pleased with his knowledge about house painting and he shared it with us freely. After given the estimate we checked his reviews and there was only one negative comment so we decided to hire him. It was the best decision we made. He was helpful with all the issues that come with painting an old house. He went above and beyond with finding and fixing problems we didn’t even see. We are happy with his work and everyone who sees the “new” house says it looks beautiful. Some even ask for his card to do work for them. We would recommend Davila Painting ."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

The biggest issue with painting your interior walls with exterior paint isn’t the way the paint looks or performs—it’s the lack of ventilation. The higher quantities of VOCs in exterior paint will have a harder time dispersing in an enclosed space, so do everything you can to direct them out—like turning on a fan and opening your windows and doors. Afterward, you can simply prime and redo your walls with interior paint, and no one will know the difference.

Distilled white vinegar can help you remove candle wax from surfaces like countertops. You’ll need to scrape off most of the wax and use the distilled white vinegar to help soften and remove the rest and leftover residue. Keep in mind that while it’s possible, using distilled white vinegar isn’t an effective method for removing wax compared to the methods listed above.

Professionals may use a variety of methods to remove old paint from surfaces, often depending on the size and complexity of the surface. Paint scraping in combination with a chemical paint stripper is the most common method, but experts might also use heat or steam to loosen everything before peeling the paint off. Some might just sand off the old paint if the surface is relatively flat and easily accessible.
