Ben designed a small and lovely pool for the backyard of my (old) house in the Tower District. He had to work around gas lines, water lines, hard pan, etc. He helped me achieve some ideas I had for custom concrete work/decking. Installation was on time, like clockwork. I am extremely happy with the quality of work done by everyone involved in the project. Excellent communication. Very helpful. I couldn't be more pleased

All of the details worked perfectly and we are very pleased with our pool. Steve and Scott Sommer, father and son, are excellent to work with.

  • Signature Pools
    5.0
All of them were extremely pleased with the outcome and customer service they received. We added Signature to our list of potential pool builders and continued to gather information from everyone we could, including industry professionals. No one had a single negative thing to say about Signature Pools. We considered other companies, but the customer service we received through the design and bidding process made it clear that Signature was the only choice for us. We felt extremely comfortable throughout the entire process and had confidence that we made the right selection. We worked directly with the owner of Signature, Bob Mellon, throughout construction. He is an amazing person and businessman, who truly approaches every task with enthusiasm, integrity, and professionalism. We had clear ideas about what we wanted, and Bob was able to create a beautiful pool and spa that was beyond our imagination and expectations. Every sub-contractor he used was professional and competent. He only does things the right way - this became clear early on, and I nicknamed him "Mr. Above and Beyond." His prices are competitive - if someone else gives you a cheaper bid, look closely to see if it is actually a better value. And keep in mind, that sometimes you get what you pay for when it comes to customer service. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Signature Pools and the outcome of our pool construction

  • Freedom Pools

Feedom Pools constructed my new swimming pool from scratch. I researched pool construction up and down. I obtained bids from multiple companies. I was impressed by John Stephens, owner of Freedom Pools. He had a quiet confidence that he could get the job done to my complete satisfaction. His bid was competitive and he provided options that increased and decreased the cost. John's designer, Mike, came to my barren backyard and immediately had a vision of what would work. His hand-drawn sketch showed exactly what I had in mind, and what I thought would work in the yard. No fancy computer graphics with inflated costs....just a vision and a drawing by a real human. Freedom Pools did a fantastic job every step of the way. No question was too trivial for Mr. Stephens. He was always available and it was clear that in his mind the customer comes first. This company did a fantastic job on my new pool construction. I would recommend them in a heartbeat

Contractor was very unprofessional, never on time, Workers were very messy. Workers would put concrete on plants and rock work, Very messy job with no time lines.

I started a pool with John Stephens from Freedom Pool where the owner constantly lied about the product he was going to install. John will tell you lies after lies. John Stephens stated he was going to have a professional waterfall builder Tim Freezen come out to stain and build our waterfall and grotto. Tim Never came to build the waterfall nor stain the concrete. John Stephens says he knows how to build Grotto waterfalls but he did not know how. John Stephens built our Grotto with no engineered plans and when asked if he had plans he said yes. I later go to the City of Clovis to find out he never had engineered plans, he actually tricked the city into thinking he was not going to produce a grotto but was only doing a waterfall. This is a huge Safety issue for our family and friends. This guy is a scam artist. His sales men Ron is also a scam artist, he stated Freedom Pools would install the same surface as pebble tech but their version that looks and feels like pebble tech than installs plaster. His employees are very messy leaving trash and materials all over the yard. The contractor charged us for 24 Tons of rock and than never brings weigh slips for the rock delivered. He did not bring 24 Tons of rock. We paid for 3 colored concrete and we only received 2 color concrete with a horrible sealer that peeled in 2 months. Freedom Pool workers leave concrete all over the plants and dirt all over the drive way for months. Freedom Pools stated he would complete our project in 35 days and he started Nov 1 2015 and finished in a horrible December 16 2016. This was the worst experience possible we will go to court in May 2017 and we hope to resolve this problem soon. Please if you want to see his work, or talk to me about his quality of work please email me at corbinthompson@att.ne

  • Sommertime Pools

I cannot comment on the quality of Sommertime's work. I simply do not know. I do know this, I contacted Scott on two separate occasions. My family had made the enormous decision to have a pool put in and were excited about going forward. He came highly recommended by a friend as well as Angie's list. I called Scott and actually got through to him (unlike other pool builders) however as I was trying to find a date that he could come out I mentioned that I was available on Thursdays. His answer to me was that he couldn't come out that day because he had softball. OK. I understand his extra-curricular activities may be important to him but I'm a potential customer and I'm pretty sure softball doesn't last all day. We ended up finding a Monday where we were both available and he was to come out at ten o'clock in the morning. Unfortunately I had to cancel that appointment because I got called into work at the last minute (I covered for a sick employee). As soon as I found out I called the office and left a voice mail and told them I'd call again. I then called Scott on his cell and let him know what happened (he hadn't heard yet from the office that I'd called). I told him I was available that Thursday and he said they were starting a pool that day but he would try to make it out. I said that sounds good and I'd see him Thursday. That was the last I've heard from him. He didn't call or make any effort whatsoever to win my business. So to sum this up: 1. There was an obvious lack of consideration. Not calling back and being too busy with personal activities put up obvious red flags for me. 2. If the company is this difficult to get to even come out to your house to make a bid on building a pool I can imagine the nightmare of dealing with them once the contract has been signed and ground broke on the project. 3. I wanted to like this company. People I respect have said glowing things about them. The reviews on Angie's List are very good across the board. Unfortunately my experience has been one of apathy on the part of Sommertime Pools

My advice would be not to use them because they charged us too much money I found out later from the assessor's office. I had to keep asking them to finish and I still never got my permit signed off. The work was not too bad; it was nice.

This is a detailed timeline of our experience with Vineyard written in response to their e-mails: We went to the home show right at 11:00 on 7/19. We were circling the vacant Vineyard booth waiting for someone because we were eager to get moving on our pool. When someone was there after close to an hour, we scheduled the next available appointment on 7/26. You were delayed, which caused our appointment with you to merge with our time with our landscaper. At the end of that meeting, you were to be in touch at the beginning of the next week so that we could set a time to come in for the proposal. Instead, you called a week later. I missed your call and immediately called back to get your full voice mail, and I was unable to leave a message. We connected later and made an appointment to come in one week later on 8/9. When we arrived, the plan was not ready. There was the beginning of a design, but we sat with you for about 2 hours giving feedback and providing input into the plan. I missed a 4pm appointment because it was so lengthy. You said you would have a price for us in a few days. The next Wednesday, 8/14, I texted you asking for the estimate - no response. You texted back the next day asking for an e-mail address, which I provided 25 minutes later. The next day after that, you e-mailed the estimate in the evening. It should not take close to a month from first contact to get an estimate (7/19-8/15). After Vineyard did not get the job, the guy looked over our fence as he was building a pool in the backyard behind us. He thought the design looked like his and he was upset about it. He sent multiple unprofessional, offensive and harassing emails about the situation. I wish we had never gotten a bid from them, because it was a horrible experience. Here is their final response after he realized that he was incorrect about what had happened: I know you do not want to have any further correspondence so I will make sure this is my last response. I thank you for giving me your perspective and it helps me understand where you are coming from. I tried to explain in my last email where I was coming from and why I drew my conclusions, even if they weren’t true. I had been extra sensitive because I just had someone copy a design that I came up with, so I felt vulnerable giving out my design, which probably made me a more defensive than normal. I had a different story line of what was actually happening in my head than what was actually going on. I didn’t have the facts straight and responded rashly and according to what I was thinking had happened. I thought I was taking a stand for myself when I thought I was being taken advantage of, but I was mistaken and responded based on emotion. I jumped to conclusions that were not true and now that I understand what happened and I am embarrassed for my actions. I see in your response where I fell short and where I need to improve. It is a hard email for me to swallow, but thank you for taking the time to write it. I see where I have not met my own standards and what needs to change. I hope you understand that I am human and I make mistakes. I passionate about what we do and my work but sometimes it can come out in the wrong ways. I do want to take this opportunity to apologize for how I have offended you and your husband and all the aggravation that I caused and I hope that you can forgive me. I appreciate the opportunity you gave me to earn your business and have come away with this with some hard lessons. Best of luck with you pool, Bob is a great builder and I am glad to see you working with him. I know he will build you a great pool and take good care of you
