D & R is a construction company that specializes in chimney inspection and cleaning, repair, and fireplace insert installation (gas, wood, and pellet devices). We install, repair and upgrade fire burning devices. We also reline masonry and metal chimneys. After installation we send a digital report of our finding. We provide nationally certified inspections and cleaning by technicians licensed by the Chimney Safety Institute of America.

"Reginald was awesome. He was very polite and considerate of my time. He arrived at the scheduled time and got right to work. He was also very clean. He laid down tarps so there was no mess left behind. I will be calling him back to install my new pellet stove."

We are a full service fireplace repair, cleaning, and sales company. We operate in a very large to accommodate our customers who utilize their wood, pellet, and gas fireplaces. Be it Inserts, Freestanding, or Built Ins. We also service and clean dryer vents.

"Initially I was satisfied with service. When Ashtree could not safely repair my insert I went ahead and purchased a new one from them. Ashtree contacted with a subcontractor who walked off my job after 1 day leaving the job unfinished. The owner of Ashtree, and the subcontractor are now both putting responsibility back off onto the other party (with me caught in the middle) despite the fact that Ashtree hired the subcontractor and my contract was with them, making them legally responsible. Now the job remains unfinished and neither party can be bothered to come to my home and put up a tarp despite repeated requests that someone do so to help prevent cold air from coming into my home. I'm not upset so much at minor issues with finishing the job as I am the lack of responsibility on the part of both Ashtree, and it's subcontractor and unwillingness to put up a tarp to ease my discomfort in a difficult situation. Such a small gesture refused to ease the discomfort of a customer speaks volumes about how much both I and my business mean to Ashtree AC and chimney. Truly sad!"

It is a bad idea to try to walk on a roof with snow on it. In fact, you should stay off your roof all year long, even when it is dry and sunny outside. There are too many things that can go wrong, and one misstep can cause serious injury or even death.

Rather, if you need to get something done on your roof, call in a pro. They have the right experience and know-how to get things done safely on a snowy roof, including snow removal.

Moss grows in dark areas of roofs, including in corners and gutters. If left alone, it can grow under roofing and cause permanent damage. Here’s how to remove moss from metal roofs

  • Soak the moss to soften it

  • Scrub it away with a soft-bristled brush, or pick it off with your hands (be sure to wear gloves)

  • Use a moss remover that’s compatible with metal roofing, following the manufacturer’s directions

  • Remove dead moss and rinse the roof thoroughly

  • Prevent future moss growth by trimming branches, cleaning gutters, and attaching zinc strips to moss-prone areas

You can rinse your solar panels in some cases. For example, periodically rinsing your solar panels can remove light debris if you live in an agricultural or dusty area. Light dust and dirt won’t affect efficiency much, but they can build up and mix with other debris like animal droppings, leaves, and small sticks.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

An improper DIY roof cleaning could cause leaks by damaging the roofing material. Things like using too much water pressure on the shingles or applying a harsh cleaning solution could cause damage. If you do enough damage, you could harm the ability of the shingles or other roof materials to keep water out of your home.
