Customers say: Quick response

"This company is fantastic. The cost was just right and the workmanship is incredible. The project was done much quicker than I thought possible and Dan and crew were always there when they said they would be. I can't recommend them enough. If you need a big project done, give them a call. I know if I have more projects in the future, I will not go with anyone else. You just can't beat the price and quality that goes into their work. THANKS DAN! You guys are top notch!"

"My friend recently had some work done at his house and recommended him. I called and told him what I was looking to do and he was honest and told me how I could save money and do it myself. walked me through the process and told me who to call with the city and approximate time frames. You don't come across this type of "good people" too often these days. I highly recommend Wilber Construction. Randy will be my first call in the future for any type of construction work. Thanks Randy!"

"Wild Sage was hired to demolish and old retaining wall and fence on our property. They then installed an excellent and far superior replacement. The project was done extremely professionally and all details were considered. They took the time to consult with me for every decision. I felt like I was a part of the process the entire time and nothing was done without my consent. We have several other projects in the yard that we are already discussing with them. Their work is superior in every way and I would highly recommend them to friends and family. Thank you Wild Sage!"

"Employees are very hard working gentlemen. Frank is awsome with his crew. Job was done in 3 days. They all cared about your personal belongings in the yard. My neighbors are so impressed that they decided to hire this group for their yard and fencing. I would use this company agaIn and let my friends and neighbors know how wonderful the outcome is on the job that was done. Cynthia R"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Digging a well can cost between $20 and $25,000, depending on your needs. If you’re looking to dig a well yourself, all you need is a shovel. If you’re looking to have a well drilled by a professional, you can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per foot. The total cost of drilling a well will average to $5,500.

A perc test can take anywhere from one to eight hours to complete. The total time depends on factors like the amount of excavation required, the depth and width of the holes, and whether multiple test holes are needed. For a single hole, the process of filling it with water and monitoring the drainage rate usually takes less than an hour. Professionals can often complete the entire test in a single day. While it's possible to get results the same day, some companies may take a few days to provide the official report.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.

When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25 per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.

Yes, you can excavate in the winter, but it might make the job harder. Frozen ground is harder to dig, and snow or ice can make the work site more hazardous. A contractor may need special equipment and techniques, such as ground-thawing methods, to break through frozen soil. Although winter excavation is possible, it may take longer and be more costly than excavating during warmer months.
