He even encouraged us to make contact again, if we had any further questions or need advice after further installation of pavers/ grass/ pergola (our next step). "Alex and his team were finally the answer to my struggles! I cannot stress or overstate how professional, yet personable!!, Alex and his guys are! I am getting on in age, now 60, and suddenly I could not 'hop up" on my retaining wall to get into the flower bed anymore! I had brought Alex out for estimates and meet and greet for 3 or more projects we have in mind. I HAVE to get estimates first and then budget it in to my current spending budget and Alex was very gracious and accommodating to help me, not only get the free estimates, but spent much time with me, coming back on multiple occasions to just plan and come up with a number of solutions for each idea I had for each section of landscape!!! He realized, that my husband now working out of state was leaving me pretty alone to deal with this and he stepped up as a professional and as a person to help me! We started with stairs leading up the retaining wall so I could get up there without hurting myself and he made them nice an"

"Ed Madruga came out promptly, and was very helpful, knowledgeable, and forthright. He was so helpful, I may end up doing the project myself. If not, he will likely get the job. Later, I came to my senses and had him do the job. He had the right equipment and knew exactly what to do. Got it all done in less time than expected, and charged less than quoted. I highly recommend Madruga Construction."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

You can dig 60 to 80 linear feet by hand per day depending on the depth. Digging a 100-foot trench by hand will take you two work days, but it can take longer if you have heavy or rocky soil. If you’re digging a deep trench or one that’s over 100 feet, consider renting a mechanical trencher, such as a walk-behind or ride-on, or calling a pro for help.

Yes, you can excavate in the winter, but it might make the job harder. Frozen ground is harder to dig, and snow or ice can make the work site more hazardous. A contractor may need special equipment and techniques, such as ground-thawing methods, to break through frozen soil. Although winter excavation is possible, it may take longer and be more costly than excavating during warmer months.

It’s possible to transplant trees as tall as 50 feet when an experienced tree planting service uses the right equipment. However, a tree with a trunk larger than two or three inches in diameter needs to be handled by a professional in order to yield successful transplanting results. Consulting a tree planting professional is the best way to tell if your large tree can be safely transplanted.

Because decomposed granite is a durable material, a crushed rock or gravel base is optional as long as the DG is properly installed and compacted. However, installing a base is a good idea because it will ensure proper drainage and stability and act as a weed suppressant (although you may still occasionally have to pull weeds). Installing an adequate base can also increase the durability of driveways and walkways. If you forego the paver base or gravel underneath, line the area with landscaping fabric to avoid weeds.

Digging out a basement takes anywhere from a few days to a few months. Most projects take at least two to five weeks, but it could take several months if you encounter obstacles. This project takes longer if you need to brace or raise your home before the excavation. Digging out a basement in new construction can take as little as three days.
