"Pacific Outdoor Living has been an exceptional company to work with. I had pavers and artificial turf installed on both my front yard and backyard, and the company’s entire team ensured that every project was completed efficiently, professionally, skillfully, and beautifully. When a pipe broke under the artificial turf in my front yard, they helped me fix the problem with the same exceptional customer care and quality workmanship. Jill, the customer service representative, was very empathetic with my concerns and helped coordinate the repair. Daniel, the landscape supervisor, was very kind, knowledgeable, and professional when he came to evaluate my situation. Stassi, the landscape production department director, personally called me to discuss the repair project and pricing. She was very kind, considerate, and understanding. On the day of the repair, Daniel personally came with Pablo and Carlos. They all worked together to find and fix the source of problem quickly and efficiently. They clearly explained every step of what they were doing, and they made sure that everything was done properly to prevent any future problems. Once the broken pipe was repaired, they skillfully re-installed the road base, decomposed granite, weed barrier, and artificial turf. They also fluffed up the artificial turf to make it look beautiful and seamless again. I sincerely appreciate the exceptional customer care and quality workmanship that the Pacific Outdoor Living team consistently provides. I have highly recommended them to my friends and family, and I will continue to hire them for future projects."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

Even if you think you know how to build a retaining wall theoretically, doing the actual work is a completely different story. There are lots of nuances in building retaining walls, and the slightest oversight can compromise their integrity. Therefore, we recommend you hire a pro to build, repair, or replace retaining walls.

Sand and gravel are two suitable options for filling behind a retaining wall. If you’re building your own retaining wall, you’ll complete this part of the process—known as backfilling—after you finish laying the blocks. Make sure not to skip it—otherwise, you could wind up with drainage issues, which can cause your retaining wall to collapse.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.
