Customers say: True professional

"Alfonso called me right away. I shared photos with him and he gave me a call back with a plan to fix it and even sent photos and instructions on how I could do it myself since he lives a good distance away from where the pump/well was located. He was very knowledgeable and educated me on my pump system and most importantly offered to be free over the phone if I ever needed help during the fix or if something else comes up. I’ll be using the tips and parts Alfonso recommended me to use this weekend. Thank you Alfonso!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

The life span of a water pump ranges from five to 15 years on average. Regular maintenance can extend its life. If you notice significant drops in performance, strange noises, or frequent malfunctions, consider a water pump or well pump replacement. Always get in touch with a professional if you're concerned about yCan I install a water pump myself?our pump's condition.

Yes, professionals can upgrade your well pump system, enhancing its efficiency and reliability. They evaluate current systems to recommend suitable upgrades, ensuring proper installation that optimizes water access and meets household demands.

The average three to four-bedroom home typically uses a well pump rated for 8 to 12 gallons per minute (GPM). To find the most accurate size for your specific needs, a common rule of thumb is to count the number of water fixtures and appliances in your home and aim for that number in GPM. This calculation allows for about one gallon of water per minute per fixture. Because estimating the correct size can be challenging, it's best to have a professional technician make the final determination. A professional can ensure your pump provides sufficient water for your home, especially during peak usage hours.

Yes, you can shock a well yourself, but it can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. We recommend calling a pro, but if you decide to do it yourself, make sure to follow proper safety precautions. This means wearing the correct safety gear, such as rubber gloves, goggles, and boots. You should also mix the chlorine solution in an open area with plenty of ventilation. Also, make sure not to drink or use the water for a few days afterward, until you’ve flushed the system and retested the water.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.
