"We have a 4200 sq. ft. home with two air/heating units. He explained to us what he was doing, what he saw, and showed us that the filters had not been installed properly. He showed us the old filters so we could see the problem. He showed us the damage the dirty air from the filters was causing our drapes as it blew dirty air onto them. He sprayed disinfectant and bacteria spray into the vents. Our housekeeper noticed we had much less dust in the house after having this service performed. We will definitely be calling them again. Great service, great service professional.

"I joined Angie's List solely to find a chimney sweep in the San Fernando Valley/LA area. After reading bad reviews for other companies I went with Fireplace Freddie and they were excellent. I purchased a new house and wanted to get the fireplace going for the first time for Christmas and we have been enjoying it ever since. Thanks Fireplace Freddie and thanks Angie's List!"

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Pricing a fire-damaged house is tricky, and it’s best to involve some professionals. First, get a comprehensive repair estimate from a fire damage restoration expert. Next, have a real estate agent get you an as-repaired value for the home, which represents what the house would be worth if fully repaired. Subtract the repair estimate from the as-repaired value to get the as-is value.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.

It depends. For new ovens, it’s best to run a few empty cycles to prepare the oven for use and to keep any manufacturing byproducts from entering your food. But if your oven is smoking due to a few burnt pieces of old food, then it probably won’t hurt to eat it. If there’s a lot of smoke, then your food probably won’t taste good, even if it might not be harmful to consume.

Just about anything that can damage your roof can damage a solar panel. It’s common for panels to sustain damage from hail or falling branches. Critters can chew through the wires. Snow and heavy rainfall can cause additional wear, along with extreme temperatures, which can degrade or stress the individual components. Even the UV rays that create electricity slowly damage your panel over time.

Yes, a seller is legally required to disclose any known fire damage when selling a house, including damages that were repaired. That includes damages to structural components and all major systems, as well as water damage, chemical damage, and smoke damage related to the fire. Sellers use a property disclosure statement, which is regulated by each state individually, to disclose fire damage.
