"Had a stubborn drain clog that wouldn?t budge no matter what we tried. Adam came out quickly, cleared it fast, and made sure everything was draining perfectly before leaving. Super professional and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!"

"JPC team did an excellent, professional job on our storm water sump pumps related project. (Two sump pumps were working; they did not need repairs.) 1) Cut and replaced two broken pipes; installed new valves 2) New float sensors installed and set to auto-start the sump pumps 3) long outflow pine, connecting to city's water drainage system, was cleaned using long snake and high pressure water pump combination. 4) successful final test with water filled in water chamber and sump pumps working 5) JPC gave warranty for work done and signed up for once-a-year annual maintenance visit in October."

"Water Heater Masters were top-notch! I called on a Saturday afternoon - they were available 9am Sunday morning to come and inspect and quote. They only had one guy working that day, but scheduled me for Monday morning between 8 and 9. At 8:15am I got a call with an ETA of 8:45, which was a really nice touch! Despite telling me it would take an entire day to install, they were done by 1pm. They also found some creative ways to do the install to avoid drilling through my stucco (for the exhaust vent and for the condensate run-off). Very professional and clean-looking install. These guys may not always be the cheapest around, and they recommended a top-of-the-line heater (which is what I really wanted anyway), but I'd much rather pay a little extra for that level of service and support. Thank you!"

"We needed bathroom repairs and upgrades but first needed to have our water main shutoff valves replaced. We received a same day free inspection and quote from Augustin who was knowledgeable and provided same day written estimate as well. He fully described the work scope and what Big Blue could and could not do (eg, not repair any cut drywall for access to pipes). While the parts for this job were not cheap, we received outstanding service and work. Augustine was able to handle turning off city water for the job, and then performed all work as described in the estimate. In the end, we received replacement of both out of date house water shutoffs with modern, sturdy, and most importantly FUNCTIONAL single lever valves that should last another century. Augustin was fast, did outstanding work, and left the work area as clean as he found it. He wore booties over his shoes throughout the job and even wore a mask, which was appreciated as one of our household was recovering from major surgery at home. We canâ t recommend Augustin and Big Blue enough!"

"This is the third time I have used Albert Nahman. This time was for a water leak with an unclear origin. They did a great job diagnosing the problem and took the time to explain what they found and offer options on potential fixes. I really appreciate the care their plumber took in tracking down the problem and providing a realistic quote for the cost and time to fix the problem. They also arrive on time and do a great job cleaning up after the work is done. A+++ company. Will definitely use them again the in future."

"I had a bathtub replaced by a walk-in-shower. I am very pleased with the results. David and Daren were very professional, they were on time, they explained everything as they went, and they left everything very clean."

FAQs for drain cleaning projects in Hercules, CA

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.

It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

Applying drain cleaner is a common DIY solution to clogged drains, but it can be extremely harmful to your pipes and lead to corrosion and leaks. It is almost always better to try snaking a clog than using a drain cleaner, but the best solution is to hire a professional plumber. They can locate the clog and gauge the severity using a camera system and then decide if using a plumber’s snake, auger, or drain cleaner is the best option to remove the clog and limit damage to your plumbing system.

The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
