"Was here on time and did a great job mounting a 50" plasma tv above our fireplace; installed an electric outlet and hid all wires and patched drywall. Excellent quality at the BEST price by far."

"Excellent work. Louie and Jeff went right to work on the installation. They were very professional and enjoyable to work with. I would have no reservations in recommending New Wave Home Audio to my friends and neighbors or anyone for that matter. P.S. My wife liked it too, and that;s important!!!"

"Courteous and showed up on time. Sent two technicians but only one seemed to be doing any work. I was uncomfortable with the second tech. I don't think either of us knew why he was there. The first tech was very careful about mounting my TV above the fireplace but took so much time doing that he was rushing to get to the next job before fully connecting everything...Which I ended up doing myself."

"Joshua has done a lot of work for us over the last year - from replacing blinds to fixing faucets, toilets and installing light fixtures, smoke alarms, shower fixtures, etc.  His work is always excellent!  He is very prompt, reliable, and does a thorough job.  I was thrilled to find such a great handyman since we had to move and rent out our house.  The only problem is that his schedule is very busy because he's so good!!

Tv Mount Install questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you should not put a TV on a fireplace mantel. The minimum width required to put a TV safely on a shelf or mantel is 10 inches, but pre-made mantels are usually too shallow, averaging at only seven inches deep. If you do choose to place a TV above a mantel, it should be mounted to the wall. However, do so cautiously as heat radiating from the fireplace could potentially cause damage to electronics.

Coax cable connects to your television, modem, or cable box. Look for a female coax connection on these devices. Your coax cable will connect to any of these. The other end of the wire runs to the service connection coming into the house.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

The shorter the coaxial cable, the better. The further you run the cable, the more signal loss you'll experience. At 50 feet, you'll see significant signal loss, and by 100 feet, you'll experience at least a 30% drop in signal strength.

Do not install a TV above an active fireplace or wood-burning stove because of excess heat and temperature fluctuations. Another place that can be tricky for electronics is the bathroom, where moisture can be a factor. If you choose to mount a TV in these areas, you should find a weather-resistant appliance.
