"Did not recieve the estimate after the consultant arrived. When I called back received the estimate very quickly. However the estimate was over 20K for 15 plantation shutter windows which is about double any of the other estimates."

"10 stars for quality custom shutters!!! Excellent customer service!!! The owner came to our home, measured our French doors and returned in record time to install beautiful, perfect, custom shutters!! We wished we found him sooner than later - the first company we found could not provide shutters for our French doors - get this, the French doors shutters were installed months before the first company. We wanted to cancel the first company but we had already paid 50% deposit but the first company wouldn’t cooperate. We highly recommend SEI Window Coverings to neighbors, family and friends and now you!! 2 thumbs up!!!!!"
"Excellent. The designer , Scott was wonderful. I couldn't have been sent a better designer. He listened to our wants and needs and worked with us in selecting the best shades for the various rooms. Brian , the installer was just as good, and made sure to check every shade before he left. He even trained us and made sure we had the app available on our phones and iPads and the apps were working. Would use them again, and again. , if I had more homes or windows."
"The whole process was extremely professional. Andrew was prompt with scheduling appointment and knowledgeable of the products and made recommendations for our needs. Did order window coverings for 9 windows. Very pleased with the installation. We are enjoying our new blinds and shades"
"I cant think of a better recommendation than to tell you that I just re-hired Arno to design and build cabinetry, shelves, work stations, and a fireplace mantle for my family room. I wasn't planning to complete the project this year, but I dont want anyone else to do it. I grabbed him now while I could get him . This second project is not done yet, but the design, the quote, his service has so far been superb again. As for the kitchen, I knew exactly what I wanted, so I took my layout , my measurements and my folder of pictures to all of the chain home improvement centers, several of the local kitchen design sources, and 2 independent cabinet makers. They all use standard sized boxes with customized doors. None of them could design set of cabinets that did not require me to remove a french door, or reduce a big window, or move to smaller appliances. I was ready to give in, till a friend who owns a home improvement showroom suggested that I try Amsterdam Woodworks. I really did not think that custom cabinets would fit in my budget, but I invited him to quote. Arno designed custom-fitted cabinets with the look, layout, style, and finishes that I wanted. I gave him a budget, and he stayed within it. I did not pay more for his custom work than I was going to pay anywhere else. The wood is thicker, the finish is hand rubbed, the insides are real wood, not laminate. Perfect."
"Have a 1,864 square foot home with original exterior paint (1991). Had two estimates for exterior painting but went with Four Seasons. They weren't the lowest bid, but I was impressed with Rick Davis' detailed proposal and style-he explained why he preferred a particular paint and he was very careful in eyeballing the project and looking at the details. Crew was on time and did a great job. No spills or spray overs and their daily clean up was well done. When I checked around after the crew had finished, there were two window frames on the front of the house that hadn't received the trim color. I contacted Rick and he said he's take care of that. The very next day one of his workers came out and fixed the window portion. He even went around and did touch ups on spots he thought needed it. That's great service! Rick was very communicative and responsive throughout the whole project. The finished product looks great and his staff were very professional and polite. If you're looking for a good company to feel comfortable with, I highly recommend Four Seasons! I'll certainly be calling them again when it's time to do the interior. "
Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.
Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.
Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.
Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.
