"Davis saved me thousands of dollars!! Two other companies without digging up the field line want to just declare the system had failed. If that were true I would have had to abandon the septic system and hook into the city sewer at a cost of $40,000 plus. Davis dug up the line and found a root ball a few feet from the tank. He removed the root ball and replace a few feet of the field line back to the tank. Everything was done to code and passed inspection with no problem. Total cost was less than $1,500. His professionalism was impeccable and his genuine care about my situation was extraordinary. I can easily give him and his company my highest recommendation. You won't go wrong hiring Davis Excavators."

Sand Rock Delivery questions, answered by experts

Gravel’s biggest pro is its cost-effectiveness. For example, a gravel road or driveway is much more affordable than its asphalt counterpart. Gravel is also much less expensive than the cost of pouring a concrete slab if you’re building a patio or similar structure.

However, regarding comfort and convenience, gravel is far less foot-friendly than smoother substances like concrete or asphalt. It’s also more of a challenge to drive on and may kick up dust, resulting in the inevitable need for extra car washes. Lastly, there’s a chance it might move with rain or snow.

Durable materials suited for climate include aluminum for coastal areas or composite wood in varying environments for durability and minimal upkeep.

When laying gravel, it's often a good idea to apply a base layer, such as sand or crushed concrete. You may also want to layer a weed-blocking membrane on top of the base layer to prevent weeds and grass from sprouting up in your gravel driveway. Without the appropriate base layer, the gravel you lay may sink into the soil.

The best equipment for moving large rocks from your yard depends on their size and weight. A heavy-duty wheelbarrow or a rock dolly can be effective for smaller boulders. A skid-steer loader or a mini-excavator with a grapple attachment provides the necessary power and control for larger, heavier rocks that you can’t lift manually. Professionals may use a larger excavator and ratchet hoist to remove larger boulders.

Pea gravel is the most common type of gravel, and it can be made of limestone, granite, basalt, sandstone, and many other types of rock. The strength in gravel comes from the distribution across the stones, so while one rock type may not be particularly strong (like sandstone), the matrix of small rocks that is gravel can become incredibly strong when installed correctly.
