RTA cabinets are popular types of kitchen cabinets as well, but often aren’t as durable and can be difficult to build.

As a homeowner, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your cabinet installer. Once the cabinets are ready for your home, you can do the following:

  • Ensure pets are safely in another room, out of the way of open doors and large moving objects.

  • Clear countertops for removal.

  • Tidy the floor the installers will walk through and around. 

  • Prepare to have the installers in your home for the entire day, for multiple days, until the project is done. Expect to have a noisy environment, especially if they will remove old, existing cabinets.  

While a three-inch center-to-center handle is common, there’s no guarantee that sizing will be the same for every cabinet. Different types of handles have different sized holes to attach them and there are lots of different cabinet handle widths and styles. You should measure to be sure you know the size of a handle and to avoid surprises.

The time it takes to install new cabinets depends on the scope of the project. For a kitchen installation, you can expect the process to take anywhere from 2-5 days for a standard layout up to a couple of weeks for more complex projects, depending on the number of cabinets and the installation space. For a smaller project, such as installing cabinets in a bathroom, you can expect the work to take a week or less.
