About us

Hi, my name is Larry Murphy, owner of Lakota Design Group. We've been designing and installing custom landscape projects in the Bay Area for the past 50 years. During those years we've designed and built everything you can imagine and completed over 5,000 projects. We've also worked for some of the most influential people in Silicon Valley, including; Executives from Apple, Yahoo & the San Francisco 49ers. From both design & construction viewpoints, we know what works and what doesn't, what looks good & what doesn't. We'll work with you using our custom 3d design process to create your dream landscape design. Then using your new landscape design we'll get bids for you from our list of vetted contractors. If you then choose to use one of our contractors for your installation, your design is free since our contractors pay us for your design. We'd love to work with you!

Larry was a pleasure to work with and so patient with me as we fine tuned our plans. He did so many revisions, incorporating every element that I wanted, while doing his best to make sure that we stayed within my budget. Larry has creative ideas to suggest but also listens to his customers and what they envision. He also produces 3D videos so you can really see what your finished project will look like. Our courtyard turned out beautifully. He’s a genuinely nice guy to work with and customer satisfaction is his primary focus. He did a great job for us!

We had a backyard project with Larry and had a great experience! We didnt know much about landscape work, and Larry guided us through different options in great detail and was able to design a practical layout for our vision. Also, Larry didnt mind working with our neighborhoods demanding HOA requirements. We love the outcome, and highly recommend him for landscape projects!

Larry is very meticulous to detail, very patient in taking my concepts creating my dream backyard paradise. Using one of his suggested landscapers/contractors and having others to call upon to consult, he was able to resolve some critical decking w/ overhead covered pergola issues. He always kept me in the loop and supervised the progress, ensuring satisfaction and meeting the agreed timeline. I would highly recommend Larry for his landscape design and contracting services.
