"Nate- Atl & Hubter- Atl. were very professional and efficient with the tear out and installation of our new bathtub. They communicated each of the steps with us and a full explanation before leaving. They arrived on time and finished earlier than I was expecting. Great job guys!"

"This company is the very best. My two old decks now look like they are new. The crew is very detail-oriented especially with the prep workâ -power washing and sanding â so the final staining is perfect. My windows were covered while they worked and everything cleaned up when they finished. Also, the price was very reasonable. I definitely recommend them!"

"I had multiple doors in the house that did not seal properly and were letting cold air in. Upon looking at my problem, they were able to offer me a solution at a reasonable price. It was important to me that for this particular item it was done in the highest quality way possible. In our discussions we decided to make some changes which caused an increase in materials and time. I felt that they did a good job communicating how my additional demands might influence the cost. Like many homeowners, you are concerned with what things will cost. I feel that they responded to my desire for the outcome to look as if the doors were brand new and were able to share with me the additional time and materials that would take."

"We are highly satisfied by the services provided to us by Jim Johnstons Carmel Guild company. Jim and his son Devin are highly organized, punctual, honest and a pleasure to deal with. They worked tirelessly to make sure that we would get exactly what we wanted. The result exceeded our expectations. Our two bathrooms are now high end due to the exceptional craftsmanship of all the subcontractors The Carmel Guild uses. All the services were rendered timely, and we were notified when the contractors would arrive. Due to Covid some of the products were delayed or arrived damaged. Jim and Devin took care of all the exchanges and arranged replacement when needed. We would recommend without any doubt The Carmel Guild company for any construction remodeling work."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

Roman tubs are very different from ordinary tubs. A Roman tub is typically deeper and broader than a traditional tub, and it's often installed on a custom platform with the faucet positioned on the deck rather than on the wall. Ordinary tubs are more shallow and usually feature built-in shower options

The impact of a walk-in tub on home value depends on various factors, including market demand, demographic preferences, and overall home features. While some buyers may view it as a desirable accessibility feature, others might see it as a niche amenity, potentially limiting the pool of interested buyers. However, it could add value if the walk-in tub meets specific needs or enhances the property's appeal to a target demographic. Ultimately, its effect on home value varies case by case, with factors like installation quality, design, and neighborhood trends playing roles in determining its impact.

Fiberglass tubs last between 10 and 15 years or more if they’re well-maintained. Proper care will help them last as long as possible. However, fiberglass bathtubs are prone to cracking, fading, and scratches over time. Bathtub installation by a plumber is one of the best ways to ensure your tub has the right support to last its full lifespan.

You can resurface or reglaze your bathtub, and it’s faster and less expensive than replacing a bathtub. Plus, replacing a bathtub is an extensive and intrusive process that requires wall repairs. Refinishing is an excellent option if the old one is in good working condition.

There are also options to install a bathtub liner over your existing tub. However, if you’re seeking a new bathtub with new features, you’ll likely want to replace your tub.
