Customers say: Quality work

"He called me back immediately and because my pool is commercial I needed a different type of cleaning service but he gave me several numbers and suggestions. He was kind, helpful and informative. I would recommend to others who do not have commercial pools."

Our history begins with value.\nIn 1954, we opened the doors of our Los Angeles office and began building pools for Southern California families. We had a simple philosophy: build every pool with the finest craftsmanship, respecting our customers money and property as if it were our own. \n\nCalifornia families loved our approach. By 1975 we were the states premier builder of residential pools. In 1976 we opened our Stockton office the first of six locations in Northern California. \n\nToday, Swan Pools is Californias leader in residential swimming pools. We have never changed our founding philosophy. But now, we can offer our customer something more - the backing of a secure, successful group of companies, with a 50-year track record and over 50,000 projects completed.\n \n \nBeyond the water is the oasis.\nWeve always understood that the pool is just a detail of a bigger picture. Above and around the water is a living environment. Its a place where families come to find joy, exhilaration, tranquility and the pleasure of company, a private oasis. \n\nToday, Swan Pools creates complete backyard environments, with the pool as a centerpiece. We begin with the lives of our customers, their hopes and dreams, needs and passions. Then we design and build flexible, elegant spaces that enhance their worlds.\n \n \nFrom the intimate to the majestic:\nSwan Pools customers live in compact urban spaces and on sprawling acreages. Their homes are built on hills, on rocks and on beaches. Just as no two families are alike, neither are their properties. Every Swan Pools environment is a unique creation, reflecting the spirit of the owner and the spirit of the land.\n \n \nOur promise has been unchanged since 1954.\nSwan has always, and will always provide our customers with uncompromised quality at the best possible value. "They did an excellent job. The only issue was that after starting to chip away at the old plaster, they called me and told me that my pool had been replastered before. Therefore it had 2 layers of old plaster. That meant more work to chip it all the way down to the gunite. That would cost $1,500 more! I had chosen PPP because of their low bid and good reviews on Angie's List. I was very upset. Jorge said that he could replaster without stripping down to the the gunite. I told him that other companies specified in their estimate and quot;strip down to the guniteand quot;. He agreed to drop the surcharge to $1,200.
Notwithstanding this, PPP were still cheaper and did a superb job.
My recommendation to others is to make the contractor be very specific as to his assumptions and state what are the incremental costs if these assumptions turn out to be incorrect.Jorge is a very pleasant man who is a pleasure to deal with.

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"The approximate cost was $1300. The guys were nice. But the paint job isn't holding up that well. From the wall were my alarm is when the wall gets touch the paint is coming off. I don't think they did do a primer. It's not holding up I can see were it needs to be touched up in hallway and the laundry room where they painted and same in the kitchen. They were kind of in a hurry so they didn't spend time on prep. That's the kind of comment I will make to future customer. It looks good but they don't do a lot of prep. There were areas that have to be touched up.  It's not even a full year yet. They kind of want to get in and out.  Initially he came in with a price. He verbally gave me quotes for each room and because I am a female. He went outside to his truck to come back with the final bill and it was 3 times than what he said for each room. I say to him I guess I have to give you a not so great review on Angie's List because the quote and the integrity of all that is part of why I use Angie's List. When I said that he called me back and said oh I'm so sorry I don't know what I was thinking. That wasn't the quote I wanted to give you. I am like oh my god if I hadn't said that this guy will be taking me to the cleaners. They were on time. They were professional."

Pool Construction and Installation questions, answered by experts

Soil testers and licensed excavators are often the professionals you hire if you need a perc test. In some cases, structural engineers will also be able to conduct the test for you. In many municipalities, you’ll need your professional on-site to dig and fill the holes with water, as well as a representative from your local building department or health department. That representative is the individual who will determine whether your test passes or fails.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.

Consultation with the local government helps identify necessary permits, avoid project delays or legal issues, and protect project integrity.

If you or your mortgage lender think your land survey needs to be more accurate, double-check the survey report and get at least a second opinion from the original surveyor and an inspector, if possible. Although it’s unlikely, even reputable surveying companies can make mistakes. An inaccurate survey can cause problems down the road in the case of any property line disputes, so it’s best to resolve any inaccuracies as quickly as possible.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.
