"We highly recommend Green Arrow Plumbing. Our clogged drain was due to the corroded cast iron drain pipes original from 1957 and Cornelio replaced them in short order. While he was here, he also fixed two toilet flushing problems which two handymen had been unable to do. Cornelio was very knowledgeable, his rates reasonable, and it was a pleasure to work with him."

"It went good.  One worker came out and it took about an hour, hour and a half.  He left the area very clean.  They're very responsive and they always do a good job."
Using the sewer camera to inspect the inside of a customer's drains
Camera inspection through a sewer vent on a customer's roof
Hydro jet uses water at 4,000psi to clean the inside of the mainline drain which connects all the home's drains to the city's sewer system.
Using a snake we can go through the cleanouts on the side of the house.
With the cleanouts snaked, and the blockage located, we can send the hydro jet through the sewer vent and flush out the blocked drain.

"I can't describe the sound of the blockage when it was cleared, but there was no question what the sound meant or the smile on my face. We've used them several times over the years and service has always been great. I showed Jose M the issue and pointed him to the closest clean-out. After quite a bit of effort it seemed he was running into a serious obstruction. Jose asked about another clean-out and started searching around the perimeter. He found one that I'd forgotten about as it had never been used, and sure enough, water was backed up in it. He snaked it and ran into a major obstruction about 35 feet in. After repeated attempts to clear it, he suggested we needed to camera the line. He called 'the boss' who headed over, and Jose continued trying to clear the line. And Murphy's Law, just before the boss arrived he got the line cleared. Again, what a wonderful sound! Greg arrived shortly after and even though the line seemed clear, ran the camera through it (no extra charge). Good move, he ran the camera to the city's line, and pointed out a couple spots that were problems waiting to happen. Knowing what we may be facing in the future is a relief. My original estimate was $77. Final cost $77. And that was on a Saturday! VERY IMPRESSIVE!!"

"They arrived on time.  They were very clear on what they were going to do.  They gave me options.  When I decided to do the clean outs they did it on their day off to accommodate me.  They left area clean."

"Excellent - We wanted to change our AC/Gas furnace system to a heat pump system and decided to use Tarpy. They provided a very comprehensive review of our needs, and spent additional time with me on the phone to help me choose the best and the most cost effective system for installation. Chris and David arrived on time and were very efficient with removal of the old system and installation of the new. They also corrected a couple of errors due to the previous installation (correcting bad welding on the Freon line, and installing a correct condensate discharge). Chris and David clean up the work area and answered any of my questions before they left. The system has been working great. Thanks Chris and David, and Tarpy!"

"Having had whole home water treatment systems previously, we decided to get one installed after about a year living in a home in Carmel Valley. Our water was very hard, leaving rings around toilets and lots of soap scum on glass shower doors. We would drink the water from our refrigerator's built in filter, but not from the faucet. We had previous bad experiences with salt-based water systems (water tastes salty, it's not good for you, and it's a pain to maintain the salt in the system) and good experience with conditioning anti-scale systems like One Water provides (good results and no maintenance). I called the office, and Jen set me up with an appointment a week later for Kevin, the owner to come out to explain the system and installation options. He provided a quote with an Angie's list discount. After reviewing other options for a day, we called the office to provide a deposit and set up an installation appointment. The installation took place one week later. The installer came to the house in the 9-10am window that was promised and finished just before noon. Upon completion he checked the water for me and provided the instruction manual (there really is not much maintenance because they do a free check up every year) and what to expect over the next several weeks. It has now been just over 6 weeks since installation. Our experience has been very good and I'm happy with the performance of the system. We can drink water from any faucet. This makes it much faster to fill up water bottles for school lunches and sports (no more waiting for the small stream from the fridge). Hair is more manageable. My daughter says her eczema-prone skin feels softer. The shower doors are staying spot-free with use of Shower Clean spray after showering. The toilets are also staying clean, we are using a bleach tablet as recommended. This company was very easy to work with and I would recommend them.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

DIY plunging or drain cleaning chemicals may help minor clogs, but professional hydro jetting ensures long-term solutions.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.

The cost to repair a main sewer line clog is about $3,110 on average. The average cost range is  $1,310 to $4,950, but it can go as low as $215 and as high as $9,300 or more. The cost factors for this repair include the severity of the clog, pipe accessibility, video inspection, removal method, permits, pipe material, labor rates in your area, and time of year. Repairs made from outside during the winter can be more difficult due to the frozen ground or during the spring if the ground is saturated from a lot of rain and snow melt.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

Food grease, soap buildup, paper products, and tree roots often cause serious clogs.
