"I wanted to get a security system but had no clue where to start. I went ahead and used Angie's List as a reference. We’re happy with our experience dealing with Alarm Protection Group. Bought their starter package that covers our doors, windows, 3 motion detectors, and a sleek control panel."

"I moved to my new home and needed five locks changed. The locksmith was very professional, quick and did a great job. Price was very reasonable and I would definitely use them again."
"The job was good and there were no problems. I originally wanted new keys made for my exisiting lock but was told that they could not do that. So a new lock was isntalled instead. Although the work was good and the locksmith was courteous and professional, I just did not expect to pay that much to replace a lock. "
"The garage door sensor isn't working right and they are sending a different model. We've needed to call them several times to get this sorted, but they are good on the phone. They nickel and dime on the equipment, wanting to charge us 7$ to ship a keyring and it took 7 days to arrive. And then when a sensor was failing they wanted to send a new one but with same slow shipping which would have left our house insecure for a week. I had to moan about it til they agreed to send it faster, but I feel like, "duh, I'm paying to have security when I want it, not just at times when you can get your shipping and your defective gear working.' So sure I like them, but it leaves a bad taste that I had to suggest to them they should support their products and service. I'd have preferred it if they just had a policy of providing high evel service right out of the gate. The gear is GE sensors and the phone app seems like a licensed deal, works well. Now we know we can probably do it all cheaper by just buying sensors and contracting for monitoring service seperately, but this is our first experience with home security and I appreciate the level of service. WHen our contract is up, I'll shop around for monitoring but this was a good way to get into it. Costing us about 49/mo. and we like having the piece of mind. "
First thing first: Make sure you’re using the right key. If it’s the correct key for your lock, there are a few reasons why it may not be working, like the key is worn out or the lock is jammed. Try lubricating the lock and pushing the door closed to ensure the mechanisms work correctly. If you’re still locked out, call in for help.
Over time, latch components may wear out or get grimy, leading to this problem. First, check for dirt, dust, or debris in the latch mechanism to ensure smooth operation. Use an aerosol duster and lubricant to clean and loosen. You may also need to tighten the screws in the component, adjust the strike plate, or replace the lock. If none of these steps resolve the problem, consult a professional locksmith.
Yes, as long as it’s thick enough for the deadbolt. Most interior hollow core doors are at least 1 1/2-inches thick, which is usually the minimum requirement for a deadbolt. You’ll want to find the lock block first before installing. Also, most hollow doors require additional reinforcement for locks, such as a reinforcement plate or plywood block.
Many local hardware stores have the equipment to copy basic keys at a low cost. Some locations may have freestanding machines where you can pick out a blank and insert it and your original key into the duplicating machine.
Yes. Most deadbolts purchased from a home improvement store include a step-by-step installation template that is easy to follow, even for novice DIYers. One of the most important steps for successful deadbolt installation is having the proper tools to start with and carefully measuring prior to any attempts at installation.
