"We feel very fortunate to know Sergio and his team. We first worked with Sergio in 2016 when we purchased our first home, which needed major electrical upgrades. Since then, he has helped us with electrical work, lighting fixtures, home surveillance installation, and many other projects across all three of our homes. Over the years, Sergio has consistently proven to be knowledgeable, professional, reliable, and honest. What we appreciate most is that he always takes the time to explain options and finds solutions that work within our budget without compromising quality or safety. He and his team are also incredibly kind, respectful, and easy to work with, which makes every project much less stressful. Because of the trust and confidence we have in his work, we’ve never looked for another electrician. We truly appreciate everything Sergio and his team have done for our homes over the years and highly recommend them to anyone looking for dependable, high-quality electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"Very satisfied with upgrading a 100amp residential electrical panel to 200amp. Benjamin and his crew came out to review a 40+ year old panel and his bid laid out everything he thought needed to be done. His bid was similar/competitive with the other two I received, but as with anything like this, some extra costs did materialize after discussions with Edison and City of Long Beach; he explained all of these and got my sign off on everything he did/added, and at the end he kept the extra costs as low as possible. Benjamin’s communication was great and he tried to explain everything to me - the novice. During the “rough inspection” the inspector said “this is probably the cleanest and most organized residential panel project I’ve ever seen”. They also did a nice job of covering the old service mast and panel/meter box and cleaning up after the project. Orozco's will be coming back for some other work inside my house and I will probably eventually bring them back for some upgrades"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. The trick is using a transfer switch (which usually needs to be installed with the generator) that safely switches the home electrical system from the power grid to generator power when needed.

As a safety measure, you should always turn off the main breaker while operating your generator’s backup breaker. In addition, you should also switch off all appliance breakers so you don't have a power surge when the main breaker turns back on. And finally, turning off the main breaker prevents back-feeding, which endangers utility workers with the risk of electrocution. Back-feeding could also destroy the electrical circuits of your neighbors if they use the same power network.

Natural gas generators are designed to run for extended periods of time, such as power outages during a natural disaster. Since there’s no limit to the supply of natural gas, they don’t need to stop for refills. However, generators do need maintenance, including pauses to check and add oil. Constantly running them will also cause a lot more wear and tear, leading to a shorter lifespan.

While standby generators provide essential backup power, they can fail when you need them most due to lack of maintenance, fuel supply issues, dead batteries, electrical problems, or improper installation. To avoid costly failures, professional installation and regular maintenance are crucial. Licensed technicians ensure safety, uphold warranty requirements, comply with regulations, and provide expert servicing.

It is safe to run a generator continuously, but you must follow safety protocols to ensure personal and home safety. Read the manufacturer’s instructions for specific recommendations, but the general recommendation is to turn generators off overnight or when you’re away from the house. Overworked generators can pose a fire hazard and if your generator is not in a well-ventilated area, running it continuously could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
