"Craig and team's attention to detail and pride in their work was demonstrated during the project of painting my deck and stairs. The end results are stunning and elevate the look of my home in Twin Peaks more than expected. I will be using West Coast Painting again and highly recommend them to all who are looking for a fair price and exceptional quality"

"We hired Rivera twice - first time was for painting nearly the entire interior of our house 4500+ sq ft (included walls, doors, trim, and ceilings which the previous owner had painted a very yellowish off white). Riveraâ s crew did an excellent job on that sizable job, so I hired them about a year later to paint the exterior of our home to update the brown to a lighter, more modern color. Both jobs were done within a reasonable budget, and timing was fine and as promised - the interior took a little extra time only because they ended up spending extra time to sand the doors (of previous dark brown oil paint that was being repainted bright white) so the new paint would adhere properly - the doors look fantastic and glossy.. I have recommended Tony to others several times, and I will hire them again when I have any future painting jobs."

"Sal and his crew did a great job with painting the exterior of my house. I appreciate the step by step process to complete the project to include onsite estimates, choosing colors and application of sample paints, cleaning and preparation and painting. The work was completed in a timely manner and the crew was receptive to input and questions. I would recommend this company for your home painting needs!"

Small jobs welcome

I enjoy painting! I look at each project and think if this was my home how would I like it to look. I have been painting for many years. I only accept payment when the job is done and the home owner is happy. I am a middle school teacher and do painting work when not teaching. I am a Christian and do my best to reflect that in my work.

Painting questions, answered by experts

Moisture and rot are the largest threat to wooden fences. Stain can help your wood fence last 15 to 20 years, but only if you choose a stain with waterproofing qualities or add a sealant. Oil-based stains create a thicker moisture barrier than water-based stains, though both are mold and mildew resistant. You’ll generally need to re-stain your fence every one to eight years to get full protection.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Overall costs depend on the fence height and length, prep work required, and labor if hiring professionals, ranging between $1 and $4 per square foot.

DIY is possible but presents risks of uneven surfaces or improper adhesion; professionals offer expertise to ensure a lasting finish.
