Small jobs welcome

"I hired Phoenix Precision Welding to replace a metal gate in my yard. They finished the job quickly and it turned out exactly as I hoped it would. It's been three years and it's still in excellent condition. I highly recommend this company!"

"I hired RS Builders to remodel my built in bbq. They added drawers, a light, and replaced the top with granite and added a bar area. It looks great and is a much more inviting place to cook out now! They came when promised and finished when scheduled. I can t wait for Memorial Day so we can break it in. 😊"

"If you’re looking for a reliable, honest, and skilled contractor, I highly recommend vision enterprises. The quality of the workmanship exceeded our expectations. The finished concrete wall looks amazing and the site was left clean and organized when the job was complete. It’s clear they take pride in their work and value customer satisfaction. We would definitely use them again for future projects."

Welding questions, answered by experts

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

Professional metal fabricators typically charge around $70 per hour, but the total cost of your project will depend on several factors. The largest cost drivers are the size, complexity, and design of the project, as well as the price and type of metal used. A good way to estimate the total cost is to multiply the cost of raw materials by four; typically, one-quarter of the total goes toward materials and three-quarters toward labor. Your geographic location can also influence costs, as labor and material prices vary by region.

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.
