"This was a complete success. I needed a new backyard fence and some things removed. Gabriel, Ivan and the crew performed everything I needed. And everything was completed in a day. They were professional and thorough. I would use H & R Welding for any work I could around the house. I can’t recommend them highly enough. The communication was outstanding from the start! Thank you!"

"What an amazing company to work with. They are prompt and reliable with above average results every time. I have never been happier with any other fabricator or steel contractor. They are our go to for anything metal related. Iâ ve used them from simple fabrication, to repairs, to emergency structural repairs. They are real problem solvers. They maintain a strong safety presence on job sites and are cohesive with our other contractors. They have never missed a project deadline and have always showed up on time. They have remarkable communication throughout our projects, even on small jobs. They have been what every general contractor is looking for."

"The owner of Renova kept a personal interest involved throughout the project. We explained to him what we needed and our budget
and he came in with several cost effective options including substitution of materials. There was some time delay in completing the project because of tile sampling and stock on hand. The only thing we would request different is getting the counter tops ordered earlier as this delayed the project by almost three weeks. Over all his workers were extremely polite and very skilled. The quality of the work for which we paid was exceptional. Even when we made a mistake on the paint color his worker was able to resolve the problem and still not lose any time on the project. On the next major project we will be calling Renova first."

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.
The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.
There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:
Are you licensed and certified?
How long have you been in the welding business?
Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
How long do you expect my welding project to take?
What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.
