"It went very well. They were amazing and my house was virtually dust-free when they were all finished cleaning! Four people came and they did everything! Cleaned my house from floor to ceiling. They dusted all my furniture including all kitchen and bathroom countertops; cleaned a walk-in shower as well as a tub/shower; cleaned all blinds, shutters and vertical blinds; all sinks; wiped down all cabinets; above cabinets; ceiling fans and 2 hanging lamps; all mirrors; all windows; sliding door track; all my small appliances including the toaster-oven, microwave, and air-fryer; vacuuming and mopping all floors. They also cleaned my stove and oven and it looked brand new when they were finished cleaning it. It looked just like I had a brand new stove-oven delivered to my house that day!   • Silk: Dry clean or steam clean

  • Velvet: Dry clean

  • Wool: Dry clean

You should also consider if there’s any existing damage to the drapes, like pulls or small tears, that could get worse with aggressive washing. Additionally, older drapes may require special care from a professional to preserve them but still leave them clean.

Insulating windows without plastic is usually the better method. Outside of simply replacing your windows, you could buy cellular shades, which trap air between the window and the home, add a window film that blocks UV rays and traps heat, or cover your windows with a low-emissivity coating called “low-E.”
