There are two ways to determine which renovation will add the most value to a house. One is based on money alone, and the other is based on the percentage of money spent versus money earned when selling the home. Most homeowners can remain in their homes during stucco removal, but expect noise, dust, and limited access to certain areas. Late fall is generally the best time of year for installing stucco siding. We don’t recommend hiring a stucco pro to apply this feature when the temperatures are below freezing, so it’s best to avoid applying stucco siding to your home during the winter. However, it’s safe to apply in hot and colder temperatures, so any other time of year is suitable. The spring and summer are the busiest times of year for stucco siding professionals, so you could save money by doing the work in the off-season: the late fall.
The Mediterranean style is unique in that it’s designed for homes in hotter climates and to maintain a connection with nature. The building materials include stucco siding, clay roofs, and interior tiling with tall ceilings and open floor plans. These all come together to keep the interior cool. The building materials are all natural and tend to have muted earth tones, and the architecture typically allows for easy, open access to the outdoors through large windows and arched doorways. The decor and architecture can range from simple and functional to opulent, depending on the type of Mediterranean home it is.
When cleaning stucco siding, it is recommended to use a pressure washer with a psi (pounds per square inch) between 1,500 and 2,000. This range provides sufficient power to remove dirt and grime without causing damage to the stucco surface. It's important to avoid using excessive psi as it can chip or crack the stucco.
Using a wider spray nozzle and keeping a safe distance of about seven to 10 feet from the siding helps ensure a gentle and effective cleaning process. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and adjust the psi accordingly based on the condition of your stucco and the specific requirements of your pressure washer.
