"While buying a home in Sun City West our inspection reported that attic had blown insulation blocking all the soffit vents. East Valleys crew went to the home and spent hours checking the issue in the attic, in the August heat no less, and let us know that the inspector was mistaken and that the vents were free and clear. They even checked other houses in the vicinity to investigate further. Two other companies who refused to enter the attic ("I know what attics look like") proposed a small number of external OHagin vents instead which wouldn't have solved the issue if it existed. Blown-in insulation works, but only for unfinished attics. Also, it isn’t the longest-lasting nor the most effective option. For better options, look into spray foam insulation or natural fiber batts. They typically have a longer lifespan, better heat resistance, and stronger sound-proof abilities. R-value stands for resistance value and is a number assigned to insulation that states how good the insulation is at heat transference (insulation). Another benefit of injection foam versus fiberglass foam is that the colder it gets, the more injection foam retains its resistance properties, whereas fiberglass tends to lose its efficiency in colder temperatures.
