"I recently had the pleasure of working with Denny Electric for the installation of electrical service to my new backyard spa, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From start to finish, Denny demonstrated exceptional professionalism, expertise, and a strong work ethic. He worked hard to ensure the job was done right, and it shows—his attention to detail and commitment to a clean, organized installation really stood out. Every aspect of the wiring was carefully planned and executed, resulting in a finished product that not only looks great but is also safe and reliable. I highly recommend Denny Electric to anyone in need of electrical services. It’s rare to find someone who takes such pride in their work and delivers this level of quality. I’ll definitely be calling Denny for any future projects!"

"Wade and Billâ s crew upgraded my hot tub electrical from 110v to 220v. Their work was done in a timely manner and the hot tub now heats up much faster! Wurke Bettler also does plumbing! They added a reverse osmosis water dispenser on my kitchen tap, replaced the hot water valve for my guest shower as well as installed a mineral/sand filter on the main water line coming from the well. All of their work is top-notch and reasonably-priced!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Generators are safe to use as long as they are installed and operated correctly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The most critical safety tips are to never use a portable or fuel-powered generator inside an enclosed space due to the risk of lethal carbon monoxide poisoning; always operate it outdoors where fumes can dissipate away from your home. Additionally, never attempt to connect a generator to your home’s electrical panel yourself—hire a professional to ensure the setup meets safety standards. Finally, avoid overloading the generator by not connecting more appliances than it is rated for, as this can damage your equipment or cause a fire.

Whether you need electrical upgrades depends on the electronics your game room includes. If your game room will have high-powered electronics, arcade machines, or a home theater, you may need to upgrade your electrical panel or add dedicated circuits. An electrician can assess your current system and provide an estimate for any necessary upgrades.

Grounded electrical outlets are usually three-pronged. You can also look for a grounding clip in your outlet boxes or use a circuit tester. If you’re unsure, consult a suitably qualified electrician regarding your home's electrical safety.

Compared to amps, volts, and watts, ohms are a different kind of measurement, though also very common. Ohms show the resistance of materials like wiring: How much they impede the flow of electrons. The reason household wiring is usually copper or aluminum is that these materials are affordable and also have lower ohms, which means low resistance/high conductivity.

Aluminum wiring can pose a significant fire risk because it tends to expand, contract, and overheat, leading to failing connections and splices. If your home has aluminum wiring, it doesn't always require a complete replacement, but you must take safety precautions. The first step is to hire a licensed electrician to conduct a thorough inspection. Based on their findings, you have several options:

  • Full Replacement: The safest but most expensive solution is to replace all aluminum wiring with copper.

  • Copper Pigtailing: A more budget-friendly option, suitable for certain homes, involves adding a short section of copper wire to the end of each aluminum wire at connection points.

  • Other Safety Upgrades: Your electrician may also recommend installing aluminum-compatible outlets and applying an anti-oxidant paste to connections to prevent corrosion.

Consulting a professional will help you determine the best course of action to ensure your home's wiring meets current safety standards.
