Emergency services offered

"Although I feel that we overpaid for the work done (my fault for not insisting on an on-site estimate, instead of a phone quote), the work was performed quickly and professionally. Edgar, the service rep who did perform the work was exceptional. After an initial misunderstanding on how many individuals it would take to perform the work, Edgar returned the next day with an assistant and the carpet was stretch, and looks like new. I would recommend Edgar (subcontractor) in the future for flooring work."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

Standard padding works like a sponge. It absorbs liquid, soaking up every drop of moisture that hits it. Moisture barrier padding does the opposite because it has a waterproof coating made of plastic film, rubber, or treated foam. It doesn’t absorb spills and keeps them on the surface instead, so you can clean them up before they damage your subfloor.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

Regular vacuuming is essential in homes with animals and children to remove pet hair, dirt, and debris from the carpet's surface. Additionally, prompt cleaning of spills and accidents can prevent stains from setting in. Consider using carpet protectors or area rugs in high-traffic areas to minimize wear and tear on your new carpeting.

Patching your carpet in damaged areas or using an industry-grade cleaner on urine spots can help remove stains and scents from your carpet. If odors linger, leave baking soda on the area overnight (dry), then vacuum it up in the morning.
