"I had a low threshold shower installed and I love it! From start to finish Bath Planet stayed in touch with me answering all my questions. The installation team were very knowledgeable and cleaned everything before they left. I highly recommend Bath Planet for your bathroom remodel."

"Mark and his team made our remodel a #1 service by the way they kept us advised of what they were doing, showed up on time, cleaned up the work site and topped it off by doing a beautiful job. We updated two shower/bath areas in our home. Fantastic. Call Mark, he was great to work with."

"On the shower, They made it easy on me and did a great job. Owner is great to work with. On air conditioning, I had 4 other companies come out to look at my unit that was running constantly and not cooling well. They charged me for wrong issues and didn’t fix it. Mr Callahan immediately figured out that the company that installed the new unit put in a valve backwards. I highly recommend them for air conditioning work. I will use them from now on."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Whether walk-in showers are worth it depends on your goals and priorities. For many, walk-in showers are worth the investment due to the increased accessibility, the minimalist aesthetic, and the ease of cleaning. They’re particularly beneficial for households that want low-threshold access for aging in place. However, if you love taking baths and want more privacy and a warmer showering space, a walk-in shower may not be the best bathroom upgrade for you.

Roll-in showers, on average, take two to four days to install. If you need to demolish your existing shower, install new plumbing, or do other bathroom renovations, your project could take several months to complete. Consult with a remodel designer to get a better idea of how long your shower installation could take, as every project is different.

If you are in the market for a new showerhead, consider investing in a metal option rather than plastic. Metal showerheads are more durable and long-lasting, and bacteria tend to survive and grow better on plastic. Besides the materials, what works best for you will depend on personal preference. Maybe you would prefer a showerhead with as many settings as possible, or you would like a handheld one.

In short, it depends. When it comes to accessibility, a roll-in shower is easier to enter than a walk-in bathtub because it doesn’t have the extra step required to access the bathing area. On the downside, walk-in showers can be less safe for seniors who struggle with standing or balancing. Parents of young children may also prefer walk-in bathtubs for their ease of bathing children who don’t yet know how to clean themselves.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.
