"Nice people. I would call them again for basic work if not on a tight timeline. (They have to drive in from about 90 miles away and there were several delays.) They assessed what needed to be done accurately, stayed an extra hour without charging me extra, and cleaned up. Work quality and communication were average."

Generally, it’s recommended that you vacuum your carpet once per week and steam clean them every six to 12 months. If you have children and pets, you might wish to steam clean more frequently to remove stains and wear-and-tear. Consider steam cleaning carpet every 6 months in these scenarios.

While you don’t have to move everything out of a room for a carpet cleaning, doing so will reveal hidden dirt and allow for a more thorough cleaning. However, for heavy or rarely used areas under furniture, cleaning around the pieces can be enough. Professional cleaners often work around large items or move furniture as needed.

To remove pet urine stains and odors from a microfiber couch, first blot the area to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then, generously cover the spot with baking soda and let it sit for a few hours to absorb the odor before vacuuming it up.

For cleaning the stain itself, you can use a commercial urine stain and odor removal spray—be sure to follow the product's instructions.

Alternatively, you can use a DIY solution based on your couch's cleaning code:

The fastest way to soak up water in carpet is to use a wet/dry shop vac to draw out as much water as possible. Afterward, apply firm pressure to towels to sop up any remaining moisture, then liberally sprinkle baking soda over the carpet and let it sit for at least an hour before vacuuming it up. You can speed up the process by opening windows, using blower fans to create airflow, and running a dehumidifier.
