"When no one locally even responded to my inquiries for a quote, Michelle got back to me the same day with a quote and description of how the repair would be done. It's a slight downside to have to ship one glove coast to coast for a minor repair on one finger. But the cost of shipping and the repair is much less than purchasing another $100 pair of gloves! The repair took a little longer than anticipated, but shipping time had to be factored in as well. Michelle was very prompt with communications during the process. Cost of service below did not include shipping which was about $16 round trip. The glove returned good as new...well as good as it's pair. The glove is two years old. But the seam was totally resewn and reinforced. Michelle stated she did not want to the issue to happen again. I hope it won't. The problem started with my fingers rubbing. Very happy with the service from Premier. I wish they had a shop in Maryland!"

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

In Mena, a frequent mistake is selecting upholstery fabric that isn’t designed for high humidity, leading to mildew or fading. Many skip replacing old batting, which can trap moisture. Overlooking the need to acclimate wood frames to local temperature swings is another issue. Rushing through fabric alignment or using staples unsuited for older hardwood frames can undermine both the appearance and durability of your furniture restoration.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Mena should start with upholstering dining chairs, breakfast nook benches, or porch swing cushions—these are common in local homes and manageable for beginners. Given Mena’s frequent rain and humidity, focus on pieces near entryways or sunrooms that see the most wear. Using moisture-resistant fabrics and quick-drying foam helps protect against Arkansas’s damp conditions and ensures your furniture restoration projects last longer.

Helpful?

Upholstered furniture in Mena needs extra care due to seasonal humidity and pollen. Use a dehumidifier during muggy months and rotate pieces away from windows to limit sun damage. Weekly vacuuming, especially after spring storms, helps prevent pollen buildup. For best results, deep clean seasonally, inspect for mold or pests, and reapply fabric protection every 12–18 months to keep your furniture looking fresh.

Helpful?

In AR, frame preparation is especially sensitive—untreated wood can absorb moisture, leading to warping or rot. Skipping a moisture barrier or using adhesives not rated for humid climates often results in early breakdown. Applying stain or fabric protection is vital, as local weather can quickly degrade untreated surfaces. Properly sealing seams and joints helps prevent mold growth and extends the life of your upholstery project.

Helpful?

In Mena, persistent musty odors, fabric that feels damp, or seams starting to separate often signal deeper moisture problems. If you notice squeaky frames after heavy rain or discoloration on furniture near windows, these could indicate water intrusion. Early edge fraying or loose springs are warning signs—addressing them promptly can prevent more extensive furniture restoration or structural repairs down the line.
