"This was buy far the best money I spent in by 50ies bathroom. No idea how long this will last ( they say 20-25 years) but if it will last 10 years I am happy with it. Note: Surface is not perfect and I wish I would have covered up everything in the bathroom because of the spray paint dust."
"Chris did a fantastic job! I love my new kitchen cabinets! I had late 80s or early 90s "pink pickled wood" cabinets. Chris sanded, primed and professionally painted my cabinets. He does the base cabinets and drawers on site. He removes the cabinet doors, and takes them to his shop to spray off site. He delivered the doors back to me the following week, as promised. Also, I have a Kitchen Aid refrigerator with the wooden panel insets. Chris painted the doors to match my kitchen cabinets, for far less than buying new inserts from Kitchen Aid. He always was punctual, friendly and a true professional. He would always call or text and let me know when he'd be back, etc. I would definitely have Chris back again, and probably will. "
"Shain was very friendly and worked very close with me on a tight time frame to get the work completed. He did a great job removing very stubborn wallpaper. I called several companies and they were not interested in even providing me a quote to remove the wallpaper. He's crew did a great job with painting and clean up. We will be using again in the future. "
"The workers arrive on time, work until the job is finished in a professional and attentive manner. I had no problem with trust issues since I went to work allowing access to my house with no problems. The work is done to your satisfaction without complaint. I have used other contractors and spent many a day waiting for someone not to arrive as promised. This will not happen with this company."
"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."
Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts
If you don't sand your cabinets, the new paint or stain won’t adhere properly, impacting the final finish and leading to peeling, chipping, or a sloppy result that won't stand the test of time. Sanding removes the old finish, smooths imperfections, and gives the new coat something to grip. Without it, you will waste your time, money, and effort.
The vinyl finish on thermofoil cabinets makes them durable and scratch-resistant, especially compared to painted cabinets. However, if they do get deep scratches, it can be challenging to fix, and you may be unable to repair them.
Routine cleaning with light detergents, avoiding abrasives, and timely addressing chips prolong the new surface appearance.
Common materials used for cabinet refacing include laminate, wood veneers, and thermofoil. These offer varied aesthetic options and durability levels, depending on your budget.
No, in most cases, you do not have to remove your countertops to reface cabinets. Since refacing primarily involves updating the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces, your existing countertops can usually stay right where they are, making the process quicker and less disruptive. However, if your counters prevent the access needed to remove doors and drawers, they may need to be temporarily removed. It's best to consult with a professional cabinet contractor to assess your specific kitchen layout during an estimate.
