"Rick is the poster guy for over performing. He pressure washed our siding, gutters, blew off debris off our garage and house roof, and made other suggestions concerning roof replacement. I had no idea or roof was failing or soft, but his inspection revealed issues which need repair and issues of which we were totally unaware.. Ill have Rick back to pressure wash/strip and paint my deck and for any roof repairs we decide on. He was extremely professional, upbeat, and respectful beyond belief. Should I need any serious home repairs, I have his card on hand as the job he did was exceptional.. A+++"

"I?ve worked with Leon on numerous projects. It began with adding an elevated back deck to the house. Next I had him take out a wall and remodel my kitchen. The most recent project was a complete bathroom remodel that involved constructing a walk-in shower where the sink used to be and building a sink/vanity where a tub used to be. He also created a ?water closet? for the toilet (it?s behind the sliding door with a mirror on it next to the shower in the pic.) Leon is easy to work with and helpful in keeping costs under control. I?ve included before and after pics of the bathroom and a pic of the deck."

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must. 

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck.
