"Jason arrived on-time.  Actually, he was 3 minutes late but called because he had the wrong house number otherwise he would've been a few minutes early.  I have installed dishwashers but this one was very tricky.  The previous home owner laid stone tile right up to the washer preventing an easy removal.  Jason looked at the options but did not want to remove the tile because he thought they would break and I did not have any extra.  He tried several things and eventually cut off the legs with bolt cutters to remove the dishwasher.  The new dishwasher was a challenge also but he managed to get it in the hole, leveled appropriately, and a small leak fixed.  Jason was very courteous and professional.
Art answered the phone immediately on Friday and scheduled Jason in on Monday.

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

It depends. For new ovens, it’s best to run a few empty cycles to prepare the oven for use and to keep any manufacturing byproducts from entering your food. But if your oven is smoking due to a few burnt pieces of old food, then it probably won’t hurt to eat it. If there’s a lot of smoke, then your food probably won’t taste good, even if it might not be harmful to consume.

DIY is not recommended due to the complexity and potential structural issues. Hire professionals for thorough and safe repairs.

The first step in fire damage restoration is having a pro come in right away to help control moisture (if authorities used water to extinguish a fire at your home). Skipping moisture removal puts your home at risk for invasive mold and rot that can cause added property damage and health issues. Once you have the bulk of the water out, you’ll need to run blower fans for 24 to 72 hours to remove moisture.

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.

Repairing a fire-damaged home could cost anywhere from $2,000 to $200,000 or more—it all depends on the extent of the damage and the quality of the materials you use. In most cases, your homeowner’s insurance company will cover the majority of the repairs. If you’re buying a home with fire damage, though, it’s best to get an estimate from a fire damage restoration company to estimate the repairs before closing.
