"Great work. When Steve noticed the job was more complicated than expected, he did the extra work for the original price. Also installed an extra switch and light at no extra cost. The work looks great. I will definitely call Ozark Electric for any electrical work in the future."

"Jacob has done various electrical jobs around my home from bringing power to the far point of my patio to replacing faulty outlets to adding circuits to installing expensive designer lighting and ceiling fans. The work is always excellent and his prices are fair. I give his name to people frequently and without reservation and they always give me glowing feedback. I would not hesitate to hire him any time I need electrical work done around my home."

"I needed electricity for shop. He put in boxes, dug a trench from other side of house reaching shop, and added receptacles all through it. Also put one on back porch. Ià ¢à  à  m enjoying the light attached to top of building. Makes a huge difference for outside lighting. CJ is extremely kind, and devoted to his profession. Ià ¢à  à  m SO thankful someone recommended him!!"

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"I was traveling for work and my personal laptop was running very slow. I called Greyt PC and was able to get it looked at the same day. The customer service was top-notch. I really appreciated the owner making me a priority. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained things to me and helped me understand the issue. Since then my laptop has been running great."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A duplex outlet simply means that the receptacle has two plug-in outlets for two plugs. It’s a common design choice for homes. The two outlets should be wired identically during installation so the hot side is the same for both.

While most electrical items can be plugged into a GFCI outlet, some appliances with internal or stationary motors, such as refrigerators, vent fans, and fluorescent lighting, can cause nuisance tripping. This happens because they experience a small, normal amount of current leakage, which can cause the GFCI to trip even when the appliance is working correctly. Although this is not a safety hazard, it can be inconvenient and may cause the GFCI outlet to wear out faster. For this reason, it is often better to plug these types of appliances into a standard outlet. Additionally, electrical circuits over 100 feet long can sometimes cause tripping. Some appliances, like hair dryers, have their own built-in GFCI protection, so connecting them to a standard outlet is fine.

Single-pole switches are simple circuits designed for lower voltages. As such, they don’t require the complex wiring of switches that need to supply power to larger devices and appliances. This is why single-pole switches commonly go in bathrooms, closets, and other small rooms that power a low-watt light fixture. One wire creates the circuit from the power supply, the other goes to the fixture, and the final wire provides safety mechanisms through grounding.

You can tell if a breaker is GFCI by looking for a red or yellow test and reset button that you can press in and out. You’ll know if an outlet is GFCI if the red reset button is located in between the two pronged sections.

Replacing the panel itself takes four to eight hours of work by a professional. However, if associated wiring and related components also require replacement, the labor time increases to 20 to 30 hours. Your electrician can speed up the process by bringing in a team of pros to handle ancillary tasks.
